INTERIOR- AUTOBOT HQ A network of catacombs spreading out below the surface of Iacon, unknown to the cowardly Decepticons, who believe the area is haunted. Here the Autobot resistance have access to almost anywhere, with tunnels in construction that lead as far afield as Kaon.
+++
The Autobots had returned from their recruitment missions, there charges in tow. Gradually, they had trickled in, from tunnels and landing pads in the sorrounding area- the last to arrive was Nexus' team, who had heard about Crosscut's sticky end over the comms. Nexus dismounted, his face stormy, and turned to Smokescreen. "Go take Stryke to meet the others- I'll call for you and brief you in a while. I have to go close Crosscut's file- see you later." He marched off. The pair walked from the hanger in which they had arrived, towards the meeting hall where the others were waiting, sat over tables with tankerds of slugger, waiting for news. As they walked into this vast cavern, they knew only one thing- Nexus has not looked happy.

Not drinking, Perceptor sat still in his chair, elbows resting on the table before him as the tops of his hands supported his chin. Thoughts of the missions filled his head. The lost of another Autobot that was to be filed away in his cerebro cortex. It wasn't until he saw Smokescreen enter the room that he began to feel a little better. "Smokescreen! Thank Primus he has brought you back to us. I hope your mission went better then my own?"

Stryke stepped into view from behind Smokescreen when he heard Perceptor.
"I'd say it went well, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Gave the 'Cons quite a repair bill in the process. Name's Stryke, I was meant to be part of Operation: PLAGUESWARM, but I was held up by some Seekers."
Stryke paused for a moment, realising he was rambling a little and remembering about the mech named Crosscut. He looked around the room at the somber faced Autobots.
"I'm sorry about your friend. He sounded like a true hero."
Torque drained his tankard and set it down quietly on the table.
"Ok, for the benefit of the three newcomers, I'm Torque, and this is Safecharm." He said, motioning to Safecharm. "We were tasked with picking up Redline. Gave the Decepticons so called 'Peacekeepers' a bit of a kicking. After losing Crosscut, I'm more than ready to get back out there and put the hurt to the 'Cons."
Torque settled back in his seat, waiting to see who would be next to make an introduction.

"Yeah, we had real fun shooting down the AA artillery placements. of the top of a building with a seeker fly-by every 5 kliks!", replied the bot sarcastically. "I need a drink..." murmered the bot and headed towatds the bar serving counter.
Smokescreen was tired, not physically but emotionally, and was still a little raw from the mission. Usually it'd be his job to cheer up the morale, but with such enthusiatic newcomers to the cause he was glad of the break, and a chance to unwind from the mission.

Nyquist sat quietly, watching the others make their exchanges and fiddled with his thumbs between interlocked fingers.
"Seeing as introductions are being made, I am Nyquist. Before being captured I set myself the task of alerting Autobots of Decepticon intelligence concerning their positions." He smiled with grim pleasure at Stryke and then Smokescreen. "I'm glad to hear that you bots managed to cause them some problems"

"A hero? All fallen Autobots are heroes. Fallen and destined to be forgotten it seems." Perceptor said as he looked at the Autobots around him.

Torque stood and walked over to Perceptor, resting his hand reassuringly on his friend's shoulder.
"Fallen, but not forgotten. You never forget anything."
Stryke got himself a drink and stood by the table.
"I've never forgotten anyone who saved my tailpipe. Its quite a long list, now that I've added Smokescreen and Nexus to it." He paused for a moment, then raised his drink. "To Crosscut. I can't think of a better end for a warrior than protecting his friends and allies."
Torque nodded.
"Well said." He muttered.

Perceptor violently shook Torque's hand off his shoulder as he rushed to where Stryke stood. There the scientist knocked the drink out of Stryke's hand. "Don't your own word bother you? Its quite a long list. How much longer then? And whats the point of drinking to them? How much longer until there's no one left to remember? Spare me the bravo! The course of this war is taking us on the path of genocide!"

Stryke remained calm as he listened to Perceptor's outburst.
"Its not us that's turning this war into genocide," he said quietly, "its the Decepticons. We have three choices, fight, flee or let the 'Cons kill us. I wasn't programmed to run, and I won't let a 'Con kill me without putting up a fight, so that leaves me one choice. Think any of us like this war? I certainly don't, and I want the war over as soon as possible, but I want it to be an Autobot win."
Before the situation could escalate, Torque bulled his way between Perceptor and Stryke, making sure he was facing Stryke.
"You, move away and keep your mouth shut. We're all on edge at the moment, so let's all take a few moments to calm down, ok?" He then turned to Perceptor and spoke quietly. "Go easy on him, alright? He's new to the outfit, doesn't know what we've been through, but his Spark's in the right place."
Torque silently hoped that he'd managed to calm thing down a little.

Torque didn't have to wait long- within clicks, Nexus strode in, his sword buckled at his waist and his rifle slung over his shoulder. He eyed up the new recruits, before beckoning lazily for them to follow. "So you're the new recruits, huh? I hope you think you were worth Crosscut's life. Come on. You're all gonna have a cycle's recharge, then head out, and I want you all briefed- the 'cons are on to us, so we need to move fast."One by one, the soliders headed away from the cantein, walking in ones and two through the corridor they had enetered from. As they looked into various rooms and hangars that populated the walls of the corridor, they could see mechs hammering weapons and vehicles, forming up, being briefed, and checking their weapons. There must have been at least fifity to be seen on this hallway alone- Nexus clearly had something big planned. Safecharm sidled up to Perceptor, leaning down to his ear. "The boss don't look happy. What do you think he's got in store for us now?"

Redline had kept quite around these new faces. It had been a while since he was around allies. He was used to being in the wild, among unsavory types that would kill him if they only had known his alliance.

Nyquist followed quietly behind the rest, trying to ignore the guilt he felt over Crosscuts death and the doubts Nexus' words had put into his head, and focus instead on what was going on at the moment. Simply listening seemed the best thing to do right now.

Smokescreen, following just behind, overheard the question as he walked the corridor also eyeing up the mech with their weapons and briefings. "Maybe it's the next big push" leered the Autobot before mumbling, "Load us up to the hilt and push us out for the next big offensive?..
Today really must be a good cycle to die.."

Nexus lead them into a small, dark room, a single lamp illuminating a long table, with a holographic street map of Iacon flickering gently above it. A few streets were lit in blue- back streets with connecting sewer tunnels, mostly- and the majority were in yellow; but three buildings were lit in red. A stretch of monorail leading into the Iacon inner districts. A cruiser that was hovering at least a mile above the docks, a single tower-like structure connecting to it from the ground. And finally, Straxus Tower- the center of all that the Depecticons had accomplished in what once a place of peace and freedom. Nexus stood at the head of the table as his newly assembled team, recruits and old friends alike, gathered around it. His optics shimmered in the lamplight. "As you are all aware, Straxus has now asserted marshal law across every district. The pockets of resistance that were holding out in the industrial areas, which I was hoping could help us, have now been utterly defeated. The resistance cells I have been nurturing these past few months had their cover blown last night by a mole, and my last informant in Straxus' administration was found out and publicly executed this morning. Those who weren't killed have been taking to the concentration camps. This leaves the fifty two soldiers currently residing in this hideout the last Autobot warriors in the province, and presumably all of Cybetron. We are quite literally all that is left. We are so few that the Decepticons refuse to recognise us as a legitimate military threat." He paused a second to let this sink in. "Naturally, this leaves us with even less time than we originally thought. The will of the people is evaporating. If we don't act fast, we could be faced with a passive population that, besides being unable to fight, will be totally unwilling to defy Straxus. So we need to hit hard and fast. I understand that I ask a lot. That we are faced with impossible odds. So before I go on, I need to know that I'm only proceeding with those who wish to be involved in what will be highly effective, completely necessary, but truly questionable, acts of war." He placed his hand flat on the table, disturbing the hologram for a second. It was clear he was inviting the others to do the same. "I ask for you to volunteer, in the knowledge that you will be directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds, possibly thousands, of Decepticons. In the deca-cycles to come, the Decepticons, and perhaps some Autobots, will look back upon these actions as atrocities. So? Who's with me?"

Perceptor stepped up first. "Time is of the essences. If the Decepticons believe us to not be a threat, then let us strike now. A precise hit from a force they refuse to take seriously will upset them psychologically and throw them off balance. Then the odds will be even. Like the old saying goes, "a power-surge for the powerful and energon for the Emptys." Perceptor placed his hand on the table.
