Galaxy Force/Cybertron has been the worst for this but it does go right back to G1 Ironhide *though i always thought rumble sounded a little from the Bronx). But should they have accents at all?
There's the age old argument "oh they've been on the planet (Earth) for a while they might of picked up the accent" - nonsense. If they do it it would be in my eyes to emulate and fit in, not "picked up". But should they have them at all?

I think its a good idea to give them accents because it seperates them from the rest and make them stand out more where people will remember them. The only one I haven't liked so far was when they changed Jetfires voice to Austrailian. I have nothing against the Austailian accent its just they should have kept the same as they did before.

True but voice actors can make them plenty different without like huffer's whiney voice to cliffjumpers slightly macho/tough cookie voice to bumblebee's childlike voice. Personality defines a character not an accent.

I totally agree, sometimes it works like Tracks and Jazz when it isn't so much an accent but a manner of speaking.
Other times like Outback it's superb in it's stupidity.

[glow=blue,2,000]I'm not totally against TF picking up an accent, it does make sence that it seems that for some characters, its a step too far.
Jazz did it cause he loved earth culture, and I can imagine a autobot picking up and using earth slang because they deal with humans. But as for an accent, I wouldn't think so.
There goes any arguement I have as to why my charcater Buckshot would have an accent, but anyways...
What I never liked was when ppl would roleplay or write a fanfic where a TF was swearing using earth profanity. I mean, they have there own four lettered words, like slag, but I guess an autobot could have picked it up. But as for decepticons, I highly doubt they would use a human expression at all, purely out of the disgust and hatred they feel for the human race.[/glow]

I agree that it's absurd for a Cybertronian to 'pick up' and accent. However, it's perfectly reasonable for them to use accents simply out of personal preference. It's not really necessary to differentiate the characters, good script writing is supposed to take care of that. Unless the accent is really annoying, there's nothing wrong with TF's having them. Accents don't add much to the personality, but they do add a tiny little bit.

I agree using it purposely or emulating it is fine but saying for a transfomer "Oh i must've p[icked it up", absurd. I haven't hardly seen any of Cybertron/Galaxy Force, but from the bits i have, i know dreadrock (Or jetfire or whatever he wants to be called) would drive me nuts.

Yes he does need mucho pain!
I too am against TF using Earth slang and metephors in unsuited situations.
Like ill see a WW set fan fic and someone will be using references as if the Autobots had just finished watching Ghostbusters or something...

I really hate that accent talk.. makes the TF's seem like they are trying to appeal too much.

[glow=blue,2,000]The thing is, who's accent is exceptable and who's isn't?
I can live with most of them I think, except Outback's own.[/glow]
