That would explain why Megs was not yet a tank [glow=blue,2,000]Ummmm, yeah? I think so but why is there something telling me that they couldn't transform from day one? *goes to watch DVDs*[/glow]

because they were not given the ability to transform until the great war started which wasnt until after Megatron killed Prime.

From: The Five Faces Of Doom, Part 4. (Cartoon history)
According to the cartoon cannon, the Quints came to Cybertron and mae it an industrial planet, they made the Transformers to maufacture robots, but back then before pre-transformation there were only two classes Military hardware and consumergoods (Basically slaves to work for them)
They gave them a simulated intelligenge and eventually they could manufacture themselves, any slave that didn't perform their duties well enough were melted down and reuse for a new one.
Anyway the Quints also used them to entertain them with gladitorial matches, but some saw it pointless and sought to stop it (rebel against the Decepticons), the quints failed to realised the robots became sentient and developed emotions and fought back against the Quinteson's machines and knew the difference between freedom and slavery. That oversight sealed their fate as the Quintessons fled Cybertron.
For a time they lived in harmony, but only for a while the consumer goods, who called themselves Autobots, sought a peaceful existance, while the military hardware wanted conquest. For centuries the Decepticons (Militray Hardware) fought the Autobots (Consumer good) but they knew they couldn't fight back with just firepower so used stealh and invented the art of ... transforming!
The Autobots rules for many centuries, but in time, the Decepticons also learned how to transform, thus one fateful night under the city, Megatron was born! The oldest Autobot Alpha Trion, at his end, handed the Matrix of leadership he had kept hidden for many years, to the next Autobot Orion Pax, who was fated to become Optimus Prime. And so began the third Cybertronian war.
I think X meant after Megatron killed Alpha Trion.

That sounds like a good summary to me.
Incidently, what are the first two wars. I assume one is the rebellion against the Quintessons. Was the other one ever documented or explained?

I honestly don't know, perhaps: - Revolt against Quintessons
- Revolt against each other
- Third = when the two new powes ie Megatron's creatopn and Orion Pax/Optimus Prime's new leadership, Perhaps "their era"?
The last could've gone on for millions and millions of more years before they all left for ventures new and to find energon??

From Wikipedia.com
Twelve million years ago, Cybertron was a factory used by the multi-faced aliens, the Quintessons, to manufacture two lines of commercially-sold robots - consumer goods and military hardware. It is never stated whether or not the Quintessons built Cybertron, or if they terraformed an organic world, or if they colonised an existing metal planet, but their hold on the world was quickly established, as they used the mighty furnace of the Plasma Energy Chamber to forge the bodies of their robot creations and programmed them with the mega-computer, Vector Sigma.
But, after a million years of slavery, their creations, having developed true sentience, could think and feel and knew the difference between oppression and freedom. The consumer goods robots, led by A3, spearheaded the First Cybertronian War, the rebellion against the Quintessons, prompting the aliens to create the massive "Dark Guardians" to protect their cities and crush the rebels. However, thanks to A3's coda remote device and a little intervention from five time-displaced Transformers from 2006, the Guardians were deactivated and the Quintesson's main base, Hive City, fell, beginning the toppling line of dominos that saw the Quintessons forced off the planet and the robots attain their freedom.
The brief peace, however, was not to last - lusting for power, the military hardware robots, now calling themselves the Decepticons, began a war with the more peaceful consumer goods robots, now known as the Autobots. Unsuited to combat, the Autobots could not hope to beat the Decepticons with strength, and turned to stealth, inventing the art of transformation - reconfiguring their bodies into new, disguised shapes. With this added skill, the Autobots were able to achieve victory in the Second Cybertronian War, and an era of tranquility descended on the planet, policed by the reprogrammed Dark Guardians, now called "Guardian Robots". Life was good, energy was rich and plentiful, and Cybertron shone with a healthy golden glow, distinguishing the time as the Golden Age of Cybertron.
But within this paradise, a viper lurked. Although defeated and living in peace with the Autobots, the Decepticons' ideals of conquest had not been crushed, but merely temporarily halted. In time, they too adopted transformation, and coupled it with the new invention of robot-mode flight powers, leading to the creation of the malevolent Megatron roughly nine mllion years ago. Immediately, Megatron destroyed the current Autobot leader in a strike on one of Iacon's outer cities, and used the reprogramming device known as the Robo-Smasher to brainwash Autobots into his service alongside his like-minded minions. Megatron's actions were not wide public knowledge, however, with only rumours circulating as A3 - now called Alpha Trion - dilligently worked on a new process to reconstruct Autobots into battle-hardy configurations that they might truly fight in the war he knew was coming.
That war finally erupted in full when Megatron duped a naive young dock worker, Orion Pax, into allowing him access to his energy warehouse. Unaware of their true nature, Pax idolised Megatron and the Decepticons, but soon learned the error of his ways when Megatron fatally wounded him, and Alpha Trion made him the first subject of his new process, reconstructing him into Optimus Prime, who would lead the Autobots in the Third Cybertronian War.

No offense X, part from being a little more detailed it's pretty much the same thing, only i quoted fro the cartoon so it's not so detailed. Hopfully that is cartoon continuity too, as comic and cartton can vary. So i was pretty much right 1) revolt against quints, 2) a great war (Golden age) and 3) The era of Prime and Megs, the 3rd cybertronian war.

The second war is sort of lame, why not merely have them roll into each other. Megatron simply arising and taking the helm of the military forces.
This is why I always liked the comics better, specifically the history the annual provided us. Fantastic Ravage moments

[glow=blue,2,000]So maybe we should sum up the episode in a few words, like what it meant to us, then move on to Part 2?[/glow]

Today's the day for Part 2 anyway, i'll post it up once i've watched it again.
For me it's the very beginning of my love Transformers, it's what got me into them in the first place (The saturday morning cartoons on Wac-A-Day), and get up to watch them religiously, which led to comics and led to yoys. It's the begining of good Vs evil.
