Figured I'd start this thread up as our home for TF Prime discussions and so let this be the home for all things TF Prime cartoon.
As of this post, 2 days until the hours long airing of the TF Prime mini series. Episodes 1 & 2 Titled "Darkness Rising Part1-2" respectively, will air at 4pm eastern on Hub TV. "Darkness Rising Part 3-5" will air at 6:30pm eastern next Wed-Thurs, presumably parts 1 and 2 being aired Mon-Tues at the same time slot.
Any post beyond this point may, and most likely will, contain spoilers.

Prime just started.....WTH!!!!! They killed off the coolest character in the first 5 minutes. I was so excited to see the new Cliffjumper, and they just kill him off, not even one full episode. Messed up.
More later.
Update:
So, not only was Cliffjumper killed off in the first few minutes, he was turned into a zombie by dark energon and then cut in half by Megatron!!!
Personally, I find the animated a bit flat. They use a lot of camera movement to hide the fact that nothing is really going on. The faces are awful. Why are they so flat and bland?
The kids are already annoying.....well, Miko may not be too bad, but the two boys are annoying. Can't stand Rafe.....I hate when they pull the "giant, super advanced robot can't fix something, but scrawny, barely pubescent teenager can." Also, everything looks like it is straight out of Meet the Robinsons.
Hope that the show keeps its main focus on Arcee like it seems to be, and not on Bumblebee. I like Ratchet. He has the same grumpiness from Animated. Bulkhead wasn't bad. Hate Bumblebee out of principle, if nothing else (why is he mute? So stupid!). Optimus is Optimus.
Of the Decepticons, only Screamer and Megatron have had significant roles. Soundwave seems to be exactly what they said he would be, no more than a drone. Maybe that's not the case, but based on the first two episodes it seems that way. Megatron's face bugs me. Why the stupid teeth? Starscream is quite lanky and his posture bugs me. He stands like a geriatric. But, he is classic Starscream.
Story is a bit generic. It jumps in at a point where things have already been set up and happened. Megatron and the Decepticons had been on earth but left. Optimus and his group remained on Earth as its defenders, kept secret by the government. Starscream and the drones remained behind as Megatron went to get an army. 3 years later is where the series starts. CJ detects a deposit of energon (BW style crystals) and goes to check it out, then gets popped by some 'Cons, alerting the Autobots that they are back. Stupid humans accidentally stumble onto the Autobots, Autobots have to now protect them as they fear the 'Cons will perceive them as allies. At the end of ep1, the big M arrives through a space bridge. Start ep2, Megatron reveals 'The blood of Unicron' to Starscream, also known as dark energon. His plan, use it to animate an army of his own. His first subject, CJ. CJ turns into a zombie, kills some drones, and then Megatron cuts him in two as he is uncontrollable. The resurrections/zombification of CJ brings his energy signature back and shows the Autobots where he is. They use the ground bridge (a scaled back version of the space bridge capable of traveling inter-globally, unlike the intergalactic space bridge) to travel to his location. Cue fight with Decepticons. Megatron decided the place isn't worth the fight and tells Starscream to blow it. Starscream gives his best quote so far. "I'd stay but I'm squeamish," then blows the place. Optimus and crew make it back through the land bridge, narrowly escaping the energon blast that trails behind them. Optimus assigns an Autobot to each human kid. Cut to Megatron, he decided it is time to get control over the dark energon and shoves a piece into his spark chamber. End ep2.
The story is Movie meets Beast Wars meets Energon meets War for Cybertron.
The biggest thing I felt while watching was....I miss Animated.

Well I managed to see it, I thought it was okay - but I'm not exactly jumping up and own over it yet. My character breakdown: Optimus Prime - As Onix said, Optimus is Optimus, but I agree about the faces. For tme the lack of nose when there's no face-plate it what does it for me. If h'e going to have this retractable face plate - at least give him a nose! Why? Because as Onix mentioned the faces are so flat, it makes it look silly when Prime talks. Even with the mighty Cullen I couldn't take Optimus seriously - when he first talked without the face plate - I burst out laughing. That - is not a good thing. Bumblebee - Yeah, is really gonna be annoying. Bulkhead - Is quite possibly every bit as awesome as his animated version IMO. I would love it if he said "Oops my bad". For me it was that one word reply about why he was late ("Traffic..") that just made me in awe of him. Arcee - I agree with Onix, shifting her as one of THE central characters, is IMO - one of THE best things about the show, I really really like Arcee. Who'd thunk I'd ever say that! Cliffjumper - I am also disappointed that they killed him off on the first 5 minutes, though a series would've had more impact. It just felt like a token cameo because it was the Rock doping the voice, so they only needed him once. Guess that's what happens when you get big names to do a voice. Megatron - Not sure yet, the teeth are freaky though. Starscream - Although the voice is slightly differrent to normal I think this is Starscream is what Starscream is. He's everything you'd usually come to expect, maybe slightly more deliciously evil. Soundwave - Did I hear right? His first line to Starscream and it sounded like he had a (although robot-ized) female voice?! looks like he is just a drone. very dissapointing a great character has been reduced to this. Kids - The towns are gonna be annoying, especially Miko, but as soon as we saw that first shot of Rafe with his toy car - my head was in my hands doing a full face-palm. Isn't giant robots fighting robot enough of a pull for kids these days without adding the token kids> Surprise, surprise there's three of them as well like Armada (The original 3 anyway exculding their friends). I think because of who's producing and writing it might be the only saving point, the writing may be it's future saving grace hopefully. It's not terrible, it's just average so far.

Agree, very average.
I believe Soundwave was relaying Arcee's transmission to Starscream, and not actually talking. He seems to be no more than a glorified spy radio.
You forgot about old grumps Ratchet.

I knew I forgot someone, I kept counting the Autobots off and couldn't figure who I was missing.
So Ratchet, grumpy like his Animated counterpart - but what I really like is that sometimes there's a slight accent. He reminds me alot of Dr Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy" from Star Trek, the original series - also my favourite Star Trek character ever. So major win there.

So.....Prime is a zombie cartoon? Perhaps this is a glimpse at what IDW's infestation will be like? lol
You know, its kinda of ironic that with Cullen and Welker back in the driving seats again that I have found them to be reversed of how I felt about them in G1. I didn't like G1 Megatrons voice acting one bit, but Primes Megatron sounds pretty spot on (still a David Kaye man myself, but it sounds great). Optimus on the other hand, I find it just doesn't look like the voice should be coming from the character. The character looks young, but sound old and it just doesn't seems to sync up as with, say, the movieverse Optimus. I think it is the mouth. They needed to just go for the moving faceplate. Why does Prime need to have a mouth? I think kids are plenty smart enough to know when he is talking by his faceplate moving.
Story wise, the episode definitely was a 'tweener. Bringing the events of the last episode together with the events of the next episode. The episode itself, quit uneventful, though it further confirmed that my reasons to watch are about only Bulkhead and Ratchet. I'm still very much liking the idea that Arcee is the main focus. Wonder how they managed that given BB's "popularity." Perhaps they felt that they already knew boys would watch it, but a strong female lead would get the tomboys interested that weren't already/

Why does Prime need to have a mouth? I think kids are plenty smart enough to know when he is talking by his faceplate moving. The problem is Cullen just always does his G1 voice time and time again. But then this is an amalgamation of movie and animated so perhaps it's got to be. Although it is great to have both Welker and Cullen opposite each other in a TF cartoon again after 25 years+, Cullen does do just exactly what you expect.. whereas... Welker is slightly doing his G1 Megs (Slipping into it at times) but, is doing a slightly different take this time, much more creepier. And the animation helps with Meg's creepy eyes and teeth. So he is taking it in a slightly different direction, which is refreshing. Thankfully the premise of the zombies and dark energon actually made this one quite exciting, despite the pain-in-the-ass kids. Especially exciting when Prime and Ratchet where mobbed down by zombies. Ratchet is becoming a fast favourite as well now - "Well not time for long goodbyes, here's the door!", I love his bluntness. Arcee, Bulkhead and Ratchet for me are the shinning points so far. It's going to get extremely annoying if that rafe can hack into anything everytime to get out of a bad situation - he's 12. I just hope that this story can save it from being too unbearable because of the kids.

Oh I agree about freaking Rafe......
I forgot to bring that up. How the bloody heck does a 12 year old hack into a federal system and track down its agent? Even if it is possible, the kid wouldn't be in school anymore, he'd of been accelerated through the system if he was that smart.

Episode 5 was the most eye rolling episode yet.....
Recycled lines of "One shall stand and one shall fall" and a whole many others. They even recycled the end of the first Bay movie!!! Ugh.
Rafe is the worst ever. What, a kid owns a laptop so he can hack into government computers and control entire satellite stations....... Why must there be kids? I don't remember when I was a kid and watching Beast Wars thinking "These robots are cool and all, but I wish there were some kids in this."

Okey Dokey guys. The time has come. This Friday, February 11 at 6:30 ET on The Hub and every Friday after. Episodes 6-26 I assume will air over the next 20 weeks meaning it should run till July.
Prime has also already been picked up for another 26 episode season 2. Too bad we must wait until October for any figures.

Not a bad episode at all. Little show time for the kids. Loved Starscream in this show. He is a different kind of treacherous than most Starscream's have been. Skyquake was short lived, and unfortunately this show is doing the 'has vehicle kibble but doesn't have an alt mode yet' thing. The introduction and killing of character might get old fast.

*cusses*
I had to turn it off half way through to go do something
I'm liking starscream though... despite not being an eagle or raptor
You do get to see that soundwave is a predator drone
-------------
I agree the intro-kill in the same episode thing is going to getting old fast.... buuuut... not to diss cliffjumper, killing skyquake was a much bigger deal than cliffjumper (if you disagree, compare their tech specs... Skyquake was almost all 10s... and I read somewhere his attack went to 15 with his "predators" (i did a little research on him earlier)
