[glow=red,5,300]"Well Hoist I am going to start off with some questions the Board Members wanted me to forward in this Interview. Well Hoist what drives you to make all these pictures you have done for the Board and Board Members Sigs? I mean how long must it take you to make all these Pictures?" [/glow] [glow=green,2,300] Well i've always been interested in art from an early age, and i don't mean just kid doodles, i mean really into drawing, i went on to study heavily in it at school, collage, etc etc.
But last year i have become more interested in computer art since aquirring Painshop pro 7 (only had a brief flirtation with Corel 4 in 1995).
|I love making things for my 'Gades whether it be sigs, banners, posters or just stuff. I spend alot of time in my art package.
With sigs in paticular it's the 'Gades themselves that are the inpiration, they shape what the background might be or look like, what the text and general feel of the sig will be like, all from them and their personalities. The inspiration is from the Renegade characters and personalities, their histories and characteristic traits.
Renegades come in all shapes, and all sizes and attitudes!
Sigs can take little as half an hour or even 15-20 minutes or less. With everything it takes less time when you have a good idea what you want to achieve, and with such good inspiration (you other gades!) i tend to always know what i'm doing which makes the process faster.[/glow]

[glow=red,5,300]"Well Hoist I have to say your Pics have always been top work. Never letting any one down.
I think I can say for everyone that they are happy with the sigs and pictures you make for them.
Well Hoist you have been around for a long time... So when did you first use the the Hoist Username and also what was your first Transformers Board you started out (Using the name of Hoist.)?
Also why did you come up with your name Bones? (Because of Star Trek?)"[/glow]

[glow=green,2,300] It must've been about summer 2001. I first started posting at Transfans, it was the first Transformers site i found. Although i originally went there to read comics (not having a computer before or any old comics myself), BUT I found there forum and started reading posts... four/five hours later i realised how much time had passed so i joined as "HoistKeeper" so i could respond. There was no doubt about using the name Hoist (One of the only regular size TFs i had - apart from twintwist later on..) but the keeper bit just came into my head. Although, now i take it to have meant "the keeper of the hoist" keeping my memory alive of that toy and my fanship for him as he is an underused character (Go to other TF boards, how many Hoist's do you see? I never have problems with someone already using the name!) But when i got a new e-mail address i changed it at Transfans and the new password was sent, however, the address was wrong/problems with address and i coudn't access my acount which led to my 2nd and current account: HoistKeeper 2.0. I use Hoist everywhere now and just use it as a standard shortened version of my transfans name.
Bones came about in March 2002. I sounded off to a few people at Transfans about making a sci-fi forum.[/glow] (plug: bones.proboards9.com/) [glow=green,2,300] and just naturally went for my favoutite character from the original Star Trek series : Dr. Lenoard H. McCoy aka Bones. I always liked his gruffness, cynasism and wry humour he mirrored my traits alot so i heavily identified with him[/glow]

[glow=green,2,300] www.Seibertron.com, as so many people mentioned it, but i rarely post there now, too cliquey. Great website though.
After Seibertron i went to Transformers: Civil War where the Renegades were forged.[/glow]

And also do you think you have achieved everythink for this Board?"[/glow]

[glow=green,2,300] After being at Transfans for so long i always wanted a transformer forum myself that i owned, each place does have one or two faults, so i wanted a TF community that could be more close knit.
The trouble with some of these places are that they are so big that not everyone know each other. Real communities are the smaller places like TFH.com, The Axaon and Wreck and Wrule.
Being at Wreck and Rule for a long time also made me want to develop that close relationship one on one with people whilst at the same time create a thriving TF community.
At first i was trying to be to retro and my 1st TF forum never got of the ground (Iacon City), prehaps with more advertising it might have but i now know it wasn't the right time.
Instead i joined Transformers: Civil war and then the whole REnegade thing took of and consumed me. At first we had a black and blue Renegade forum (L7, UC and HA will remember) but still i wanted to achieve my goals of the close-knit thriving TF community.
I looked at other forums for inspiration in shaping it, my main key elements being: Forum for each TF series, a toy review forum, general talk areea etc. I can't even remember how the RPG came into it other than a simple style RPG like at civil war with a sim for practice.
After making it i just put the link in my sig and continued at other TF forums hoping to get interest, It was at theAxalon that Moffman noticed it (Big shouts out to the fella ) and even made a thread about it at The Axalon inviting others. I 'm not sure what he liked about it or what drove him. Maybe that can be discussed in the feedback thread.
My goals were to create a thriving, active & close relationship TF forum, and that i have done. So many of my objectives have been achieved, however, more regular new members would be nice.
We have alot of RPG alt's, and don't get me wrong that's fine as it was me that allowed it, but some nice genuine fresh faces now and again are always my continuing goal so that areas like the normal TF discussions in each "series" forum becomes more active.[/glow]

[glow=red,5,300]"Well you done a really good job with the Board.
So I know this might be a sore spot of a question but I think it must be asked.
With a TF community that is more close knit, have you found there to be fights with fellow memebers (Open on the Board or Via IM's)?
Also if you come across this how have you dealed with it?"[/glow]

[glow=green,2,300]Actually it's with these bigger forums that you get the arguements, more close knit ones seem to have less friction as they are like a little family.
There hasn't really been that here, but if there is in a post i say something or my staff will. If it continues then it'll take to IM's with a warning, which covers everyone here, staff and members.
if they continue to cause trouble they'll get a 2nd sterner warning, much more harsh, a 3rd warning means banning or temporary banning.[/glow]

Why did you join the Renegades?
Granted you are one of the Founders and all..."[/glow]
