When it comes to comics, I'm not a big fan of having the first, super limited edition and all 5 covers kind of guy. I'm really just into the story, characters and art. So when it comes to TF comics, I have a lot but they might not be in the best condition. Doesn't matter as I'm never selling them.
So I've been collecting IDW's MTMTE and RID here and there. I did prefer MTMTE over RID due to its humour and all the characters so I picked it up more often then RID. Now since I moved out to the country and there aren't a lot of book stores that carry TF out here, I grabbed the as many TF volumes that IDW has put out. It allowed me to get the issues I hadn't picked up from before.
While MTMTE is always entertaining now matter what issue you get, I found the pace of RID a lot slower. Plus MTMTE had those moments that made you want to see what was going to happen next. RID not so much.
However RID makes for a better read when you read a few issues all at once. So I've read about 12 issues within the 3 volumes and I'm far more interested in the story now and where it's going.
I know RID is a more political driven story and its good to see TF stories venture into new terrority it doesn't have that 'whats going to happen next?' factor like MTMTE has. MTMTE has more humour then RID but then I'm happy that RID isn't as funny or it would be too similar to MTMTE. And there is some mystery involved at least. Now from what I know about RID is that there are some surprises that I won't get into since the story seems to be one big build up.
