So I've been watching the crap out of The Next Gen!
Basically I wasn't a huge fan back in the day. It was there and I watched a few episode and I did know enough, like characters and some history.
So I threw it on quickly a few weeks ago because when i have my daughter I need to set up Netflix quickly before she gets fussy. And any show with the most amount of episodes will win so I don't have to change to another show when it runs out.
But I'm really drawn in this time around! I don't know why either but I will say that Patrick Stewart is the best actor in Star Trek ever! FACT!! I mean I knew he was a good actor but the man can really act! Its all the stuff in-between his authoritativeness as captain that really proves it.
And now I'm all interested in the Klingons! Worf can be really interesting as he finds his balance between his duty to the federation and his heritage. I really hope he gets his spin off show!

Lt. Worf is actually my favourite character on that show as he's always a bit of an outsider being the first Klingon in Starfleet, and as you say often caught between his complete loyalty to Starfleet and his traditional Klingon values like honor.
A friend got me into it back in the mid 90's by showing me "Cause And Effect", by this time I had grown up with the original series movies - which I loved, and watching repeats of the original show on a Sunday morning. (Hence where the appreciation for the first Doctor - Bones comes in.) In TNG "Best Of Both Worlds" (Parts I & II) followed by "Brothers" is well worth watching.
