Traction vs Breaker

[Bomblast]

Breaker finally caught sight of Traction, right as she appeared and started firing on him. Breaker fired off another grenade before jumping back down to ground level, but not before catching a couple of rounds in his shoulder. They hadn't done much damage, but they burned and were quite distracting. Breaker took cover and winced when he touched his shoulder. He took a moment to compose himself before popping out of cover and firing off another two grenades.

And there it was coming rather fast, right for her. Trax dived to her left and hit the rubble in a roll. The grenade hit the dirt right where she had been walking and exploded as grenades are want to do. The shock blast added to the momentum of her dive and she was peppered with high speed debris. Just as she was about to climb back to her now shaky feet, she saw grenades, numbered two and three, saw them too late. The first of the pair landed right behind her prone form and detonated, slamming her with the blast and shrapnel and launching her forward. The other land just ahead and to the side of the other, again hitting Trax with the blast. Bruised, battered, definitely broken in places, Traction came back down hard and tumbled to a stop.

“I still function” She wheezed while raising one arm in the air in victory at having survived an altercation with projectile explosives.

Breaker advanced towards the area where his grenades went off. There, he saw Traction, lying battered and broken. He hated seeing allies in that state, even in a training simulation. He checked the timer on the simulation. Still too much time to wait for the clock to run down. He shook his head and stored his Grenade Slinger, then deployed his X18.

"You did good. Gave me a good run around." He said.

With that, Breaker levelled his X18 at Traction and started spinning it up to speed.

Trax rolled her head to look at the approaching mech. She smiled. Though she was not the most diligent history student, she was aware of the nastiness present in certain individuals, a nastiness that Breaker lacked. He would kill her and claim the victory, but it would be quick and merciful. There existed people that if they had found Trax in her present state, might take their time with the kill. Trax tried to wave at Breaker but somewhat failed. She did notice that she still had her path blaster locked in the grip of her other hand, but found she couldn’t move that lib at all.

As Traction heard the X18 spin up, she found inspiration in that moment of not wanting to die. Her good hand transformed and she squirted fire retardant foam at Breaker's face. She found it funny that she was trying to retard the fire of a gatling laser.

If anyone had asked Breaker to predict what happened next, he would have come up with thousands of possibilities before guessing what actually happened. He was completely taken by surprise when Traction hit him with the fire retardant foam.

"Gah!"

Breaker stumbled backwards and tried wiping the foam from his optics, but as he stumbled backwards his foot slipped on a piece of debris. Breaker lost his balance and fell over, landing hard on his back. His X18 was still spinning up and he ended up firing blindly straight up into the air.

So, the fire retardant foam retarded the aim of the firing laser, good enough. The race was now on to see who could bring a weapon to bare on the other. With a gasp of pain, Traction flopped on to her side, grab the path blaster with her good hand and flopped back on to her back. She pulled it close so it butted against her torso and pulled the trigger sending high speed packets of heavy protons blasting in a path sort of at Breaker.
