Starscream actually succeeded in defeating Megatron for good and assumed command of the Decepticons? Somehow I think it might in a way, or it'd at least mean they'd probably end up killing each other. Still for some reason I kind of wish Starscream would be successful in doing it. He's the most likeable of the Decepticons, and I think that's because his mistakes make him so damn funny. The movie Starscream wasn't as funny to me, but I'd like to see him make a comeback...lol.

I think it would! G1 Starscream has always been my favorite Decepticon in G1.
In the cartoon he was always threatening to take him out, but never did, best he did was fire at him or hurt him. It took a much more powerful, re-formatted Megatron aka Galvatron (Behold.. Galvatron!) in the 1986 animated movie to finally make good on the promise.

lol. Bad cosplay....what is it with that propeller. First of all, he's a jet. Second of all, that's where the cockpit goes. Good cosplay....

Starscream has become the leader several times, and in the current comics, he is the leader of all Cybertron, not just Decepticons.....
And things go horribly for him, every time, lol!

Think the only Starscream incarnation who would have had a real chance is the Armada version. Compared to all the other Starscreams he at least seemed to have the proper skills to give Megatron a run for his energon. Though, I think if Starscream actually used his processor/brain more he might actually succeed for once...You'd think with a scientific background in most of those incarnations he'd take a lot more careful calculations in plans he makes up just to gain leadership. Now whether he'd make a good leader is another thing.

He straight up challenged Megatron to a duel. And if I remember correctly (which I probably don't), he held his own for quite a while.

He did actually, probably more so then any other Screamers I've seen. Actually he almost won but Megatron got the upper hand eventually, but I forgot how he did since it's been so long since I saw that battle. I mean he occasionally may have sounded whiny but most times he showed himself a capable warrior and I think at times a tactician.
Which thinking back when I saw him change more towards his original incarnations in Cybertron I was rather surprised at first why he suddenly had a drastic change. Even in Energon he still held that warrior spirit and was more loyal but still had some of his old self. Then came TF:Animated and when my friend referred to me of the original series of G1 it wasn't as shocking anymore when I realized where he got the new attitude from.

The worst Starscream ever and the most cowardly is Transformers Prime Starscream in my opinion. G1 Starscream is my favorite Screamer, and I always wished for him to take over the Decepticons. There were plenty of times that if Megatron had listened to him then the Decepticons would have won it all.

The original cartoon seemed to dominate what SS's persona should be. A loud, entitled, whiny Decepticon. In the Marvel comic he didn't seem to be that way until later. My only problem with Starscream in the show is that he always announced how good a leader he would be right in front of Megatron. He also went as far many times to get the upper hand, shooting and betraying Megatron, but yet he survives. That sort of undermined how smart he was, and Megatron for that matter. Of course its a kids show but one too many times and it gets a little out of hand.
I prefer sneaky behind the scenes Starscream. Like in the comics and in TF Prime but he was incredible cowardly in TFP to the point it was hammy. I sort of see the Avengers' Loki as Starscream with a few differences.
