So we've had the loyal guardian of Cybertron Shockwave who kept Cybertron warm for Megatron's return. And after 4,000,000 years of waiting thats one loyal henchman for ya! Then there's the very logical Shockwave from the comics who wanted to lead the Decepticons because.... well it was logical of course! And in more recent years we have mad scientist Shockwave appearing in the comics and in TF Prime, who is also very logical and sometimes gunning for leadership.
Who's your fav?

What about Transformers Animated Shockwave? A more espionage type with extensive computer and cranium skills it seems like. Still loyal to Megatron though so I guess not that much of a difference.
I'd say out to be a leader Shockwave, with a bit of the TF Prime scientist.
Never thought of TFPrime Shockwave as a mad scientist. Just a little too dedicated perhaps, but certainly very "logical" about the whole deal and not mad.

I think, think, out to be leader Shockwave.
With Guardian of Cybertron, there was only so far you can go with that and in the comics he did go after Megatron to see what happened to him. (Prehistoric earth, Ark made the Dinobots to take him out although he took them all out before being buried alive himself). When he awakened he did have a few challenges with Megatron - at least in the UK comics for leadership. For me that's an interesting concept as well an all-powerful Megatron facing a a very strong Shockwave with an uber-powerful space gun mode and cold calculating logic on his side! Thuis is also the one that took out the entire Autobots with the infamous [Transformers] Are All Dead cover/issue.
I'd prefer him to take over because of logic than gunning for it in TF Prime as he is a very smart cookie, but then it's a different universe so I'm not too bothered by it.

Cold, logical Shockwave. Only time he ever showed emotion was Spotlight: Shockwave when he couldn't fathom why the Dinobots kept attacking him even though it was pointless and just flipped out. Made Grimlock look calm. Keeps working for Megatron while scheming to take control for himself, and why? Because logic says Shockwave would be a better leader than Megs.

I think I may have meant Fall of Cybertron Shockwave. Basically in recent years he has been experimenting on different Transformers and in some continuities he has constructed the Dinobots, the Duocons and the Triple Changers.
I've always kind of liked Guardian of Cybertron Shockwave better. Maybe because he was simply on Cybertron making it hard for any Autobots there or who paid Cybertron a visit. I do think Out for Leadership Shockwave is better but I also think since we already have Starscream out for Megatron's crown we don't need another one. But I also really like the mad scientist bit too. It fits his cold logical persona and the Decepticons don't really have a mad scientist, and they should have one.

TF Prime Shockwave was totally mad scientist. He spent a millennia trying to resurrect the Predacons as weapons of mass destruction for the Decepticon cause.
as for my preference, I like the mad scientist (though this incarnation is also typically vying for control of the Decepticons in a much more ruthless and calculated way).

Ah, him I don't know so well but that does sound a little mad. True, TFPrime did spend all that time - but he was methodical about it and quite successful. Unless we're using "mad" to also describe his cold ruthlessness. I can't see someone with that much knowledge and logic staying under Megatron's command without vying for control of the Decepticons.
