A few years ago Bob Budiansky (if you don't know who he is then quit like TF now) has shared that Ratchet could of been a 'female' Transformer. His original notes of Ratchet's are online and they refer to Ratchet as a female or as a she or something like that.
So, do you think this would have been good for Transformers? It worked in Gobots!

Would that mean we wouldn't of had cranky, grumpy, gruff Ratchet of TFPrime? Having a female medic would of been nice, but I don't think you could of transferred the exact same personality and have it work. You'd have to tweak the personality just a bit, though not necessarily change the base personality.
Gobots? (totally lacking in that area)

I don't see why not, I just wish there was a better explanation for gender in Transformers, or is there? Let's just ignore the awful Prime's Rib comic story.. Y'know something like sleeker models for certain aspects of war or pre-war rather than male and female aspects.

I think you could keep the personality the same. I think it would of been good since G1 Ratchet didn't have much personality but he did get a lot of attention in the comic. I think he got more interesting in WFC/FoC and TF Prime.

I thought TF:Prime, he kinda inherited his personality from TF:Animated Ratchet (who got his from G1 Kup, grizzled old veteran etc), but lightened him up a little. G1 Ratchet, I can't really recall what sort of personality he had, so I can't really say if it would have worked as a female character.

G1 Ratchet was friendly and some what caring.

Hmmmm, that settles it. I'm just going to have to set some times aside to rewatch the G1 series. Maybe around New Years.
