For all the opinions on the 1986 TF movies, I took another view on it today.
I decided to watch it today and the thought of Game of Thrones popped into my head while watching it.
Perhaps it's because of all the of deaths of so many main characters we loved.
Watching it from a GOT perspective actually makes the movie a little better for me. I have my opinions of what I think works for the movie and what could of made it better and it's short comings. But after watching it and thinking about what makes GOT so good I almost thought that TFM1986 has ahead of it's time.

It makes you think how pretty bold it was, knowing they were already going to kill off Optimus Prime, but major other characters (In the shuttle) - and that's still pretty early on in the movie before "the great war" (To use a GoT term!) - Starscream, several Decepticons including Megatron, you didn't know if that was it for Magnus when he got blasted (Although it was resolved pretty quickly and only in hindsight can you say - "Well he didn't go gray!").
Alright, we can be cynical now and say, that it was a glorified toy movie for a new line and those old toys weren't gonna be on the shelves no more, but at the time it was still devastating!
(For fun - now replace any GoT character with TFs!)
BlackArachnia (Mixing it up) - Cersei Rodimus - John Snow* Arcee - Daneris???
Tyrion? Jamie Lannister, Bron? Brienne? Arya, Sansa???!!!

I haven't gotten to see the past two and a half seasons of GoT but looking at this perspective...whoa boy, kinda makes it dark you know?
BUt thinking about it, the attack on Autobot City kinda almost makes me think of the Red Wedding, mostly for the fact the Decepticons were going to use a trojan horse of sorts to lure the Autobots into a sense of false security, then they just ambush and massacre them out of no where.
As for character comparison, I feel like Starscream is like Cersi almost in trying to uproot the throne or perhaps her eldest son before he was poisoned. And I don't know, Springer kinda reminds me of Jamie in some ways and perhaps Brienne could fit somewhat with Ultra Magnus, especially in her devotion to her duties and the attitude she overall has.
