Can be series, toys, comics, movies, games anything you like!
Still holding out for another decent TF game and something (Series/toys/comics) that isn't so G1 pandered too, when there's so many other continuities they can utilize. (But then names sell - Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee). I don't know how good/bad the current IDW stuff is, but I do feel it'd still be a shame if they did loose the license rights to Transformers

What sort of video game would we want to see?
We've had the Cybertron based War for/fall of Cybertron, we've had the very G1 Devastation.. They seem intent on some sort of generic MMo runn around shooting game that keep failing in development then is it on, is it not. What would make a really good Transformers game?

what about a properly developed tf game with a solid plot that spans multiple continuities?

what about a properly developed tf game with a solid plot that spans multiple continuities? The trouble with this is, whether it's comics or video games, the companies mostly only recognize Generation 1, because they know it sells. There's so many other continuities out their - Beast Wars, Armada, Prime, Animated and so many have fandoms but fall by the way side as they focuse on G1 all the time cos - money.

When compared to Star Wars and the various SW stories for books, movies, shows and video games, SW has a wide range and a large world to create within.
Transformers has a big history but like Hoist said, it keeps coming back to G1. Or at least to the common characters like Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Grimlock, Hot Rod/Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Shockwave and etc. So we have some recycling going on. G1 characters with updated bodies.
So its the same thing again and again. Which doesn't make for anything that interesting. The only attention grabber would be the new toys and animation if they are done well, and by that I mean grabs a large amount of fans.
I think the other problem is when TF is done seriously it happens more so in the comics with the only real exception being Dreamwaves run. Other TF comics focused on younger readers are fine in my opinion. But this is where the real story telling happens and where you can find substance. And I doubt we'll see it transfer to a game.
I would love a game to be able to have TF characters in a open world game. Think of TF Devastation but in a proper open world without it's 80s arcade style. And for characters to be able to other places like in the Destiny games. Go to the jungle or forest and to Cybertron and it's moons. And to use G1 and Beast War characters.
