The usual busy surface base covering the true identity of Renegade underground base was quiet. With the events of the past few orns (days) the Renegades had to regroup and sort themselves out quickly. Many of the refugees who had been station here were sent away as the it was speculated that the situation for the Renegade was going to change dasticly.
Above ground, a few miles other long the base stood Latyrx7. He was here reflecting on the mission on the moon. But more importantly, the death of his long time friend Perceptor.
A small memoreal was set up here on one of platoes, a flame was lite that would burn forever lighting Perceptor's name up on the engrave piece of metal placed there for him. Latyrx7 said nothing but stared.
But perhaps even stranger then that was the memoreal next to it. The one for the Renegade Commander, the last Autobot General; Optimus Maximus. Who, was now back from the dead as Max Convoy
This with a great many things weighed heavy on Latyrx7's shoulders.

Underground.
Inside the massive Renegade base, surrounded by a massive underground cave, its was business as usual. Almost.
The war was back on and the Renegades had been on the recieving end of the battle taking a heavy beating and losing two major fights with the Destructicons.
Until Max came along.
In Hoist's workshop, Max Convoy was hooked up to wire apon wire as the maintenance bot ran test after test on Max's new body while others looked on. It had been a week of tests insisted by Hoist, to make sure Max was in top form and to explain how he came back.
As well, the Matrix was placed in a special chambered and scanned over and over again, revealing nothing.
"Hoist, anything this time? What can you tell me about my new body today?"

[glow=green,2,300]"I've run just about every test there is Maximus, physically you're fine, which is not surprising really given your, how can i put it?, rebirth?..."
*Hoist pulled the over head scanner away that Max Conviy had been so used to seeing as well as various other tools and equipment...*
"I think today might actually be the day!", joked hoist. For the past few weeks the green maintenence bot had insistited that Max Convoy would only be removed from the machinery and support when he said so and not before. Max had continually been asking it, and it seemed today was as good as any other day... Given as he could do no more..*
"The only thing that remains of course is how you came to be, do you think you're ready to tell us now?.." asked Hoist inquisitivly[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]StormCloud had pretty much kep to himself to himself since they got back. All he'd heard over the past few weeks was Maximus this and Maximus that!...
He had now grown tired of hearing the name. It didn't mean much to him, although it was Maximus that let him in the renegades he hadn't actually served under him directly being sent on operative missions because of being an ex-destructicon and having to keep his profile low, that and being a wild-card too.
Over the last few weeks StormCloud had just remained isolated, seperating himself from the rest, too busy to care, too busy preparing for his next mission, whenever that might be...
Now in one of the abanded rooms, a huge square room, empty for storage StormCloud practised his moved both with weapon and fists...*[/glow]

At the summit of one of the HQ's above ground towers, a small black figure sits in silence, watching the celestial procession of the stars as they, and Cybertron rotate in their assigned paths.
It has been a difficult time for Im. The loss of his partner, Perceptor, the sentient who freed him from Destructicon control has bit hard, forcing the minicon to question the purpose and direction of his existence.
Playing his mind back over the recent past, the sight of Perceptor first of all being blown to pieces by a Destructicon missile, and then dying a second time at Armada's hands plays over and over. He barely remembers his outburst at Heavy Assault on the shuttle, the ministrations of Hoist repairing the damage to his neural net by the forced seperation from Perceptor, the memorial service, the subsequent fussing over Max Convoy - his leader and yet one he had not met before Perceptor's death. A voice over the base's comm net interrupts Im's reverie.
[glow=red,2,300]Command to Im, there is a priority one message for you. It's ... well it's from Chief Scientist Perceptor. It appears to be a recording he made sometime ago. Do you want to take it up there?[/glow]
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Im answers back.
[glow=yellow,2,300]No. I'll take it in the Professor's lab. Route it through to the system there, I'll be there directly.[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Confirmed.[/glow]
With that, Im gets up off the floor and heads back into the base.

Watching from the shadows in the room, a dark figure observes Stormcloud's training routine with interest. Recording details of his maneuvers and reaction times for possible future use, the Renegade's Interrogator General quietly slips out of the room unnoticed and heads to a computer panel down the corridor.
[glow=teal,2,300]Computer, interrogative: What is the current location of Commander Latyrx 7?[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Command Latyrx 7 is not within this facility. Awaiting further interrogatives.[/glow]
[glow=teal,2,300]No further interrogatives. I suspect I know where our errant second in command is in anycase.[/glow]
With that, Venator strides down the corridor to a mag lev tube. Exiting the base he transforms and takes flight, heading towards the memorial plateau.

Arriving in the main science lab of the base, once Perceptor's private domain, Im orders the door sealed and regards the comms console along one wall.
[glow=yellow,2,300]Computer, play recording from Chief Scientist Perceptor, authorisation: Im, 40912788252358739. Password: emancipation.[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Identity confirmed, authorisation acknowledged. Playing recording.[/glow]
From the console's holo projector a full size image of Perceptor appears as he did in life, forcing Im to bow his head in regret and sorrow.
[glow=blue,2,300]Im, if you're receiving this transmission it is because several orns ago the Renegade database was informed of my demise. I do not know how it happened, whether it was a death in the field, or an accident or whether my death served a greater purpose or not. I do know that I am no longer here. My only concern is you. I know you well enough that my death must have been wrenching for you. For what it is worth, I would grieve for you if our roles were reversed. There is so much that I wish I could have done and said before departing, maybe teaching you how to actually mix E-90 explosives without premature detonation for example.[/glow]
At this, a smile creases Perceptor's holographic features, triggering a reciprocal response in Im, despite his grief.
[glow=blue,2,300]It isn't destined to be however. I have only one thing I wish to say to you. When I recovered you from the body of that Seeker, I found a being with little in the way of a personality. You were little more than a drone. Over time, I would like to think I had a hand in awakening you to sentience. I have found the last few years to be a real pleasure. Having you around made my exile in the Wastelands easier to bear, having someone to discuss scientific matters with. However, there comes a point in all our lives when we have to let go of the past and embrace the future. In a way, the past few years have seen you shackled to me. You were forced into serving the Destructicons against your nascent will. Then you agreed to pair up with me. Now, it's time for you to stand on your own, to discover you own path, to do what you want and make of your life what you wish, without having to consider the needs of a master or a partner. Do not grieve for my loss. Face the future with confidence. Be free![/glow]
With that, the hologram winks out of existence, leaving a tearful Im to ponder the words of his dead partner.

Swooping silently towards the memorial plateau, Venator's sharp optics pick up the unmistakable silhouette of L7 standing near Perceptor's memorial. Transforming in midair and touching down soundlessly, the interrogator walks unheard until he is scant inches away from the other Renegade.
[glow=teal,2,300]Commander Latyrx 7. I wish to lodge a formal protest about the situation regarding General Maximus Convoy. Lt Commander Hoist has seqeuestered the General in the Maintenance bay for several orns now. Leaving aside matters which I need to discuss with our leader, there are strategic and tactical considerations which should take precedence over the Lt Commander's curiosity. As the most senior officer available who is not a subject of this complaint, I tender it to you.[/glow]
Drawing a data crystal from a compartment at his side, Venator hands the complaint to the Renegade second in command.

Latyrx7 takes the crystal and looks at it, almost thoughtlessly. For a moment he says nothing, unlike his officer like attitude and his ability to know what to say in any situation. [glow=blue,2,000]"I to would like to know what is going on inside that cybernetic brain of Maxim....I mean Max Convoy."[/glow]
Latyrx7 subspaced the crystal and began to walk down the hill. [glow=blue,2,000]"If you haven't noticed this isn't exactly the same mech as before. Psychicaly he's different, but something else. Which is the reason why I agree that Hoist has a good look at him. He was dead, the same as Aramda. And they came back together, who knows what they brought back with them as they came back to life."[/glow]
Latyrx7 and Venator reach the bottom of the hill. [glow=blue,2,000]"Lots of questions, and it doesn't stop here. We also have a bunch of Renegades missing, last seen in Iacon. We've waited long enough, time to find out what happened to them.'[/glow]
L7 took one final glance at the meroreal. [glow=blue,2,000]"Time to consentrate on the living while we can still help them."[/glow] He then transformed in to car mode and took of back to base.

"I remember nothing expect get a bright light...then darkness." Max had been bothered about what had happened during his 'death'. Where he was and what he saw.
They was no memory of being inside the Matrix, no memory of Optimus Prime or any other Autobot leader or elder of the past. he remembered only darkness, not the heaven most talk about when describing the oneness shared with the Matrix.
Infact, Max was told by Optimus Prime that he was the next inline of Autobot leaders. However he no longer felt any connection to the Matrix. He was given a new, super powered body and that was it.
"Well Hoist, I think we've had enough. My internal systems should be able to go through the data collected by your inspection to figue out what I can do. Or prehaps a warm up later on in the combat sim, but we have other matters at hand Renegades."
Max got up and approached the door. "I want every single Renegade top side in the observation tower is 4 astro seconds no less. We have a situation of some missing Renegades and an Autobot leader who going to want that back badly."
Max pointed to the Matrix before leaving the room.

As Venator watches L7 speed away, he receives the transmission from Hoist.
[glow=teal,2,300]Well well well. It appears our glorious leader must be out of Hoist's reach for now. This should prove interesting.[/glow]
Leaping into the air and transforming as he does so, Venator wings his way to the top of tower 4 several miles distant.

In what was once Perceptor's lab, Im hears the basewide transmission relaying Max's orders. For several seconds he stands in the lab, weighing up a decision. Making his mind up, he begins moving about the lab, collecting several items and putting them in a nullspace bag: several dozen data crystals, half a dozen computer pads, several weeks worth of energon rations, two spare pistols, some credit chips containing a considerable number of Shanix from Perceptor's personal reserve, and a spare lens from his late partners spares supply.
Moving to the comm console he downloads the holomessage onto another data crystal, securing that safely in his chest cavity and records a time delayed message for the attention of the Renegades.
[glow=yellow,2,300]So, they think they can order me about do they? Hoist, who was singularly inept when it came to assisting the Professor when he most needed help and this General who I've never met and certainly never sworn allegiance to. Don't worry Professor, I'm going to heed your last wish. By the time I'm finished, the Destructicons are going to wish they'd never had their sparks ignited![/glow]
With that, the diminuitive robot removes his Renegade symbol and throws it into the waste disposal unit. Hoisting the sack over his shoulder, he takes one last look around the lab and says a mental goodbye before striding towards one of the base's many concealed exits.
