With SImon Furman bring more news out about Arcee's spotlight in the comic genre of Transformers, it's made me wonder is there a place for female robots in Transformers? Aren't they supposed to be robots without gender?
As we know, Arcee wasn't the first female Transformer, even as far back as the G1 carttons we had in one episode Elita1, but why? You could argue why do all of them have male voice mostly in the cartoon, but again that's just voice acting.
One argument could be that when the first Autobotss travelled to Earth they didn't know how to distinguish the difference between male and female carbon-based life-forms and created them to get to understand this. Although there were supposedly (Elita-1|) femmebots already, but this is the carttons, and therefore can't be considered canon.
What do you think of the rise of more female transformers yeh or neh. is it right? What are the positive (Getting more of the opposite gender into Transformers) or negative effects? (They're suposed to be autonomis robots sentient beings yes but all the same..)
well, I've never been fond of the whole "transformers were built" aspect of it. nor have i ever been fond of them being "robotic" in nature when it came to feelings. so, with those things, i think fembots are just fine. I cant explain how more transformers would come into being or anything but.........
I don't like to think of the Transformers as being androgynous -- gendered all the way for me, lol. So yeah, fembots all the way. Plus, they're pretty awesome in G1; I mean, Elita-1 did catch a missile with one hand and throw it back to the shooter in one episode. It's also fun to think about TF romance as well. :P
Dunno what to think about the comics though, since I hardly go to the comic store nowadays and read them. And wait, is Arcee gonna be in the 2007 sequel or not? I thought she was.
I don't see what all the big fuss was over having Arcee in the movie anyway.
The question is why do we need female/male Transformers when they're not human, even if they are sentient and have feelings. I'm with the whole Transformers being built by other transformers Onix, and can only be given life by Primus or the creation matrix, personally.
On the plus, Black Arachnia in my opinion was the best of the femmebbots period, and to this day.
The idea of having Transformers built and given life from Vector Sigma and/or Primus is a very interesting concept indeed. But I'd also like to think that the mechs had a sort of childhood, y'know? It's a fun thing to discuss about anyway. It's like a 'The world may never knoooww' deal.
And Barricade, I knew about that Orion Pax-Ariel thing, but even know, wouldn't Elita-1 still basically be OP's girlfriend of some sort? I mean, even though he DID leave her for 4 million years and died a couple hundred times in every spin-off ever created, they never actually broke up, lol.
Hoist: Hmm, I'm guessing nothing to do with Beast Wars or Armada, so either a sequel based in or around the first renegade rp trilogy or War For Cybertron? I'm guessing War For Cybertron!
