I wouldn't worry too much about rank, I'll assign any rank. All you have to keep in mind are the soldiers and warriors all have low ranks as do scouts, but the higher the importance of their function, the higher their rank will be.

Even though the new lot weren't going to come into until IF a communications array gets built, I am toying with the idea now as there's so many new ones, of have them as a b-shift crew for the station and start them off in deep space right away...
