Looking good Hoist So, the castle is mostly finished, just decorating the rooms and figuring out what rooms will be used for what. To save this page from too many picture, I'm only posting a couple of before and after photo's and I will upload the rest to my Facebook album. The old castle has 4 levels and 4 rooms, meaning each level was one room. The new one has 6 levels, not including the towers, and 14 rooms of varying size and shape. 3 of them are bedrooms, 2 have been allocated for storage because the aren't very big, one is a 'kitchen' having crates with the various food items, a counter top and furnace acting as an oven, and a cake, because every kitchen counter needs cake. But, it's not wholly decorated and so I didn't picture any of it aside from the main bedroom, which needs more decor. They need to add more decoration items to the game. Front of the old castle, from back in Alpha: Revamped castle: I also revamped my farm house, and made the field bigger. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but just never got around to it, but since I was in revamp mode as it was, and I needed sugar cane like crazy to make paper for books I figured now was the time. I added a couple new rows, plus extended the rows. Also made the house look a lot better. Old Farm: New Farm: To see more pictures of my castle, check out my facebook album.

So how long did it take you to build all that? And what are you going to do in it?

took me probably 8 or so hours at least. I had to collect the wood for all of that. I had all the stone though from excavating already and tearing down the original structure.
As for it's uses, if I wasn't in peaceful mode for easier building, it would give me a safe place to be at night, plus I have storage in it and beds.

Built a fort......or should I say, rebuilt the fort. I leveled out the top of a mountain, but the first fort I built was too small, mostly because of the barracks I put into it, so the archery range was too shallow and took up most of the training yard. So, I tore it down, leveled the mountain another 5 levels of so, and rebuilt. This time the fort area on the top is all training ground, with a much longer range and practice dummies across from it. One for bow training one for sword training. While the dummies to train on with sword are mostly just there for looks, the range is actually quite fun. I cleared out a big area right under the fort and put the barracks there. All together, I'm pleased with the outcome, and it fills more of my city. I'm still far to go until the inner walls are filled with buildings enough to keep bad mob's from spawning inside the walls. I think the next building in the city will be a church, then I'll probably build houses to fill space, maybe a smith and bakery too. Other than that, I worked on making a rail line between the city and my underground city. Mostly just laid the rails and started on one platform. It's not necessary, or even practical, but I felt like it. Don't think it gets me between the 2 faster but it works good enough. Probably going to run fences next to it to keep mobs off the tracks, as they make it stop, and when not on peaceful, it will keep the bad ones off the tracks. On a side note, they released the Minecraft soundtrack here c418.bandcamp.com/album/minecraft-volume-alphaAlso, Minecraft won 5 awards at GDC and notch stated in his blog post that he met one of his idols and kinda promised that he'd add pet dogs to Minecraft, lol. Interested to see where that goes. He needs to add tables and Horses for mounts.

Horses would be nice for travelling. Still can't play any multiplayer at the moment.
Finished the roof on my house today, and have sort of a loft as well! I also had to create a basement underneath my storage room - too much dirt, too much cobble..

So, I've really been building up inside of my city walls and it is already looking great. First thing I did was build a church. It come complete with an attic and 'bell' tower. The 'bell' it wired up to a lever at the base of the tower in the attic and goes up to 2 note boxes. Unfortunately, there is no bell tone for the note boxes, so I settled with piano. I mostly just wanted to do something with redstone wiring as me and my brother had been experimenting with it in multiplayer, but more on that in a minute.
Second things I did was make the main road much grander. Original the main road, running horizontal from the sun rise, was only 3 wide, ran from my castle, past my farm, and out to my light house outside of the city walls (can be seen in a few pics up). I decided it wasn't "main-street" enough for my city, so I widened it to 9 wide and put some median areas that are 3 by 17 with dirt in the middle, which I planted 2 trees in each (there are 4 medians total, each separated by a 3 block space. 3 has become my standard width for all pathways) and some flowers. Looks nice now. I have roads branching off of it leading to different things.
Then, I built a blacksmith and bakery building. They are mostly to start filling in area, but the blacksmith building is nice because it has 3 furnaces and a crafting table all in one place, so I'm keeping ores and sticks there for crafting of various tools. The bakery is largely cosmetic, but it is decorated with 5 whole cakes so there is that.
Next thing I've done was build a set of town houses. One conjoined building but 3 separate houses. I plan on using these as the main way of filling in my city.
So, Main street is getting built up pretty well, and I don't think it will take much time to fill in more.
Me and my brother set up a server and messed around with stuff, and by stuff I mean Dynamite, the 'Ol 46 (46 is the number to spawn it from the console and we just got accustomed to calling it 46). First we just blew a big hole in the ground, then we tried building dynamite canons. I had seen a youtube video on it and wanted to emulate it, which I did with success. Then, we got the inclination to blow the heck out of mountains we saw across the water, so we did. Started small with just one bunch of 64 46. But that was too small, so me and my brother, not intentionally but at the same time in the same area, blew up a grand total of 8 stacks of 64 dynamite. needless to say, there was a big explosion, and bigger crater. I actually got booted from the server because of lag.
Playing on multiplayer gave us a good idea though for playing with our friends. We plan on a 2 v 2 match in which we build a tower with defenses and then one player goes and trys to capture the other teams tower while one mans the defenses.

Wolves are being worked on as we speak! They have to be the most impressive Mob so far. Can't wait to have me a pet. Just hope you can make them stay (like make them sit and stay at a location). I wouldn't want to take them to my underground and them fall into the lava.

learned not to play minecraft when it is storming outside. Luckily I only lost 4 stacks of 64 clay balls which I was in the process of combining into clay blocks for storage. Sucks that I lost them being clay is annoying to find but I've heard of people loosing their entire worlds so I'll count myself lucky.

We'll have to play some multiplayer together again sometime. Only problem is, I'm not too fond of the world. I was thinking about showing you one of my worlds (a copy) either the old alpha mountain base or the current Beta home...

Definitely.
I've added more to my city. Really starting to fill it in, but at the moment I decided to do the final finishing touches on my wall. The inside walk ways were just dirt and pitch black so I'm paving and lighting them. I put it off because it is by far the most boring part to that kind of build.

1.4 came out today! Wolves, cookies, new colored sheep, beds becoming spawns, and an increase in flowers and mushrooms on the map.
I spent a good several hours getting me a pet. The first wolf I got died by freak chance that there was no water under the ice and he got sucked down in and drowned. Then I spent a good amount of time trying to find a new one, but I got 2 now, plus I've seen on spawn inside my city walls, so I may find more.

I officially love the wolves.
The first time I came across them very quickly, but that was in a new world (Searching for a good one for the TTF server) and i had no bones on me. Found four in one spot. Unfortunately I was on a mission to find this hollow mountain i had found earlier, hollow like an apple core with just a bit in the in the middle - so I had to leave them behind.
Then Ion my Beta world (my engineered home - current project), I wandered for ages but couldn't find any. I switched off Minecraft and went and did something else. Later on I went to the same world and was just outside the fence of my home when 4 - 5 spawned! I have killed so many pigs now to keep them healthy and am on a great quest each night to kill skeletons - or collect bones in the morning!
I currently have six, 2 are guarding my front entrance at night, the other 4 are in a newly constructed big kennel! I love wandering around with half-a-dozen wolfies! I especially love the way they cock their heads!
I shall call them (Spot the reference time!):
Wolfie Max Nanook Maugrim Rama Raksha

I've only found them in packs of 1. I feel sorry for sheep, lol.
I can't bring them into the upper level of the castle. I had one spawn behind me but there was nothing under him and so he fell to the bottom. I built them a small pin out in front of the castle where I leave them when inside the walls.

Did you hear?!
They hit a glitch with he stats and achievments and added weather instead for 1.5! So when it comes out (they're guessing next week) we'll get rain, SNOW (It's back!) in snowy areas, ice will reform and snow lay, and:
This is going to be so amazing!
