((OOC: Thread between me an SD. My character, Nightbeat tfarmarda.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=characters&action=display&thread=9270)) The year, 2087. The Galactic Express entered the Triumph system, heading towards the nature reserve planet Greenleaf. The largest ship of it's size, the Galactic Express is a favourite amoungst tourists, especially those who enjoy luxury. The Galactic Express goes throughout the galaxy, heading to all the tourist hot spots and beauty spots. Consisting of 75 decks, 30 of these are guest quarters. A further 20 are reserves for the finest restaurants, bars and clubs the galaxy has to offer, and the other 25 decks are for other recreational activities. Nightbeat was sitting in a quite little cafe on Deck 8, enjoying an Energon beverage and reading a murder mystery novel on his personal datapad. "Hmmm, something tells me the butler did it." He mused to himself. However, Nightbeat kept one optic on his surroundings. He'd been tipped off that the criminal he was hunting, Saberfang, was on board. She was wanted for a number of thefts and the deaths of two notable Autobots. Out of the corner of his optics, Nightbeat caught sight of someone acting suspiciously. When he looked up, the mech was gone. Nightbeat finished off his drink and put away his datapad and left, hoping to catch another glimpse of the suspisious mech.

Staris moved along the corridor, avoiding the other passengers as much as possible.
“Crowds. If only I could track from my quarters.” She thought
This was the part of the job she hated, the others all around her, all the time. Why did this hunk of junk want to come to such a place?
The corridor ended on a large promenade of bars and cafes, each one illuminated brightly to attract as many customers as possible.
Staris looked around, this was no good, she’d never manage too find anything wading through the masses.
Picking a café and taking a seat at a corner table where she had a great view of the busiest part of the ship, Staris began her surveillance.

Nightbeat stepped out onto the crowded promenade. He'd lost all trace of the mech he was following, and in this crowd, he'd never be able to pick up the trace again. He leaned against a barrier and looked over, seeing the 3 decks below him as well.
"Just think, Nightbeat. There's always a clue." He thought to himself.
He continued looking around the area, zooming in with his superior senses to see and hear some of the farther away places, looking and listening for anything that might give away his target.
Nightbeat reset some of his processing sub-routines, the equivilant of a deep sigh. He turned around and entered another cafe. After ordering another drink, he took a seat near the entrance and pulled out his datapad, quickly checking his information on Saberfang. He glanced up from his datapad and noticed a femmebot sat opposite him. He smiled and nodded, before looking back at his datapad.

Staris ignored the 'bot that had sat opposite her, concentrating on her surveillance.
"They all try to be friendly at the beginning" She thought bitterly
while keeping a keen optic open, Staris reviewed her mission,
1) Identify target 'Saberfang'
2) Eliminate target.
Seemed simple enough, except all she had was a name, and a whisper that the target was on this....... floating abyss of 'civilization'
How she hated it.

Nightbeat pressed a button on his data pad and the info about Saberfang vanished from the screen, being replaced by this mystery novel. He leaned back in his seat slightly as he started reading again. He took a look at his surroundings, giving a friendly smile to the odd looking alien creature running the cafe, taking note of the customers, including the femmebot opposite that looked very out of place. He looked out onto the promenade, looking at all the tourists from almost any planet he could imagine.
Nightbeat's optics lingered on the femmebot opposite him for a moment longer. He couldn't quite place what was off about her, she just didn't seem to fit in, like she was out of place and should have been elsewhere. Nightbeat looked back to his novel, hoping nobody had noticed him looking at the femmebot.

He was looking at her again, she hated being under scrutiny, this was one of the reasons she didn't like being around others.
Trying to hide her uneasiness, Staris drew out her own datapad, pressing a few buttons and focused the majority of her attention on the information it displayed. While still keeping an optic on the stream of passers-by.
Target info.
Name: Saberfang.
Description: Deluxe size.
Typical armaments: Whip, Staff and medium blaster.
Wanted for: Theft of top secret data, Theft of experimental weapons, Kidnapping, Murder, (Four counts) Escaping custody.
Last Confirmed location: Praxis prison complex.
Current location: Unknown.
Staris reviewed her available data again with the smallest twinge of concern. very little description and only an overheard, whispered comment of Saberfang's location to go on. This was a risk. but the reward would be great, enough energon cubes to ensure her solitude for months.

Nightbeat was more than a little curious when the femmebot pulled out a datapad of her own. He continued looking at his datapad, not wanting to draw attention to himself by looking at her. He was, however, curious to see what was on her datapad. Having another quick glance around the room, Nightbeat was able to take in everything he needed.
He opened up a new programme on his datapad and began entering strings of data about the room, the occupants and even what the walls were made out of. During his last glance about the room, Nightbeat noticed the femmebot was sat in front of a reflective surface. However, he was sat at such an angle to her that he wouldn't be able to see what was on the screen of her datapad, he needed another reflection. After entering all the appropriate data, Nightbeat found that if he looked at a reflective jug at the back of the cafe, he'd catch a reflection of the highly polished cooking equipment, which in turn would show the mirrored wall behind the femmebot. At just the right angle, Nightbeat would be able to see what was on her datapad.
Nightbeat moved in his chair, bumping his table and knocking something off it. As he leant forward and bent down to pick it up, he looked up at the jug he calculated he needed to look at. Using his ESP, he was able to zoom in fully on the jug and see exactly what was on the datapad. He sat back in his seat and fully examined the image he had got. His optics widened and his body stiffened for a split second when he saw what was on the datapad. The out of place femmebot was also tracking Saberfang!
"Great, just what I need, someone else interfering with my investigations." He thought.

Staris digested the information again, this one was going to take all her tracking ability, she much preferred the 'see and shoot' assignments, but the payment was worth it.
"Think of the payment" she repeated to herself.
Seeing the 'bot opposite her lean forward kicked her suspicion into a higher gear. Staris shifted in her seat, trying to ignore him and focus all her attention back outside the cafe.
As she moved, Staris noticed a small 'bot lurking on a corner nearby, furtively looking around and obviously agitated.
Replacing her datapad, she rose from her seat and left the cafe, trying, unobserved, to get closer to the suspicious 'bot.
Walking slowly over to a nearby shop, Staris made a show of staring in the window at the wears on display so she could get a good look at him.

Nightbeat watched as the mysterious femmebot stood and left. He pondered for a moment about why she could be tracking Saberfang like he was. He also wondered whether she was looking to make an arrest, or a kill. Nightbeat slipped his datapad away and stood up. He quickly left the cafe and followed the route the femmebot had taken.
Nightbeat caught up with the femmebot as she appeared to be window shopping. He composed himself for a few moments before stepping next to her.
"Excuse me, ma'am. A moment of your time?" He asked.

The 'bot Staris had followed was obviously trying to be inconspicuous, and failing. His orange armour was dented, scratched and in poor repair.
Just as Staris was about to start collecting as much data about the 'bot as possible, she became aware of another 'bot standing next to her, asking a question.
Turning to dismiss the newcomer, Staris felt a shock flood her circuits. It was the 'bot that had been looking at her in the cafe.
Staris felt resentment building, at this rate they'd attract attention and she would lose her quarry.
"What do you want?" She demanded, trying to keep an optic on the agitated 'bot that seemed so out of place.

Nightbeat was slightly shocking with how abrupt the femmebot was.
"Now now, no need to be quite so rude. I happen to know who you are tracking." He said eyeing up the bot with the orange armour. "And I can tell you, that's not the right bot."
Nightbeat moved a little closer and pulled out his datapad. He pressed a couple of buttons and showed the femmebot the screen. There was only one word, in such tiny writing that it was almost impossible to over-see. The screen displayed the word:
"Saberfang"

Staris looked at the proffered datapad and felt a stronger shock run through her. He knew.
She'd never had anyone discover her in the middle of a hunt before. Was this stranger an associate of Saberfang? Could he be trying to trap her? Her first reaction was to silence this intruder, to stop his interference of her mission, but the realization of her present location stayed her hand.
Deciding to try to bluff her way out of the situation, Staris straightened to her full height, looked him directly in the eye and replied.
"I have no idea what your talking about."
Hoping that the newcomer would accept this and lose interest, she turned and stepped away.

Nightbeat chuckled to himself. He knew she was bluffing. Partly because he'd seen the datapad with his own optics, and partly because he was an expert in Cybertronian body language. He remained looking calm and relaxed and spoke softly, but with a slight urgentness.
"I know who you are looking for, but I don't know why. I've seen the contents of your datapad, and I know you are trying to track her with less information than I have. I'm sorry to say, I doubt you'd be able find her, not without some help."
Nightbeat paused for a moment, taking a quick look around.
"I think it would be mutually beneficial for us to team up on this. You've obviously got some tracking skills which would help me a great deal, and you will receive expert help from one of Cybertron's top detectives." He said, in a rare moment of ego stroking.
Nightbeat smiled and held out his hand.
"I'm Nightbeat."

Staris hesitated, looking squarely at Nightbeat. That name.... It rang bells in her head, but she couldn't quite recall where.
Her instincts were telling her his offer was genuine, but she couldn't trust him. Not yet.
I wouldn't hurt to listen to what he had to say. It would probably help her hunt, any extra Intel needed on this trip.
"I'll listen to you" she replied, crossing her arms over her chest. "but I'm not promising anything."

"Thank you. Do you by any chance have a name?" Nightbeat asked.
However, he was interrupted.
+++SHIP COMM+++ "This is the Captain speaking. Could Nightbeat report to Deck 24, Suite 2401. We have an urgent matter that requires your attention. Repeat, Nightbeat to Deck 24, Suite 2401." +++COMM+++
Nightbeat looked confused. He spoke quietly to himself.
"An urgent matter that requires my attention? What ever could they want with me? All I am good at is solving crimes, and petty theft from one of the rooms is far beneath me. So that only leaves murder, and there is definitely a murderer on board, which means....Oh slag it." He looked up at the femmebot. "Introductions shall have to wait. I think we have a lead in Suite 2401. Let's go."
With that, Nightbeat headed off towards the nearest turbolift which would take them from Deck 8 to Deck 24.
