Nexus grinned and nodded, then peered out of the crater in the wall; the party could see an Autobot gunship inbound. This was going to be too easy... BOOOOM!!! A sidewinder struck the ship from the side, sending it spinning out of control, and, in a furious blaze, crashing with an almighty explosion into the street below. Smokescreen, Nexus and Stryke stared in horror as a small, charred figure, presumably the pilot, crawled a few meters from the inferno wreckage before being torn to pieces by another sidewinder. Just down the street, the Decepticon reinforcements could be seen: at least another thirty soldiers, plus three artillery pieces and at least three seekers, who were patrolling overhead. Nexus immediately drew himself back behind a wall, reloading his POWERGLIDE and racing towards the staircase. "Slaggit! Smokescreen, get on the comms and tell HQ what happened! We need to get to a higher level and take out those seekers!"[/color]

Smokescreen joined Nexus behind the wall and contacted base,
+++ COMM +++
Smokescreen to Autobot HQ, repeat Smokescreen to Autobot HQ, this is Autobot tactician Smokescreen reporting on a priority air-wave delta... Autobot gunships are down, repeat Autobot gunships are down... Decepticon seekers in this sector located and armed Requesting immediate back up!
Do you copy HQ??!
+++ COMM +++
"Nexus! Those seekers will out-maneuver us 2 - 1 in the air! Especially with sidewinders! We need back up, and we need it now!", chomped Smokescreen angrily at what had had just happened to the gunship.

Stryke gave a little half smile.
"Seekers are my speciality. Couldn't make PLAGUESWARM because I got distracted hunting some Seekers. I'll even out those odds."
He reloaded his weapon and moved off to find a good place to pick off the Seekers.

"Are we gonna let him just go off like that Nexus?!", spat the Autobot, "We had to rescue him as it was.. He's gonna get himself killed if he's not careful - no matter how useful or goof he might be, we need him alive!"
With that, Smokescreen took of after Stryke, to try and make sure he at leas that adequate cover,

Stryke had found an almost perfect spot, it was a shame he'd have move after taking his first shot. He peered through his scope and took aim at one of the Seekers at the rear of their formation. He heard Smokescreen arrive as he squeezed the trigger. He ignored Smokescreen until he saw the Seeker going down in flames. Stryke moved quickly away from the window.
"First rule of sniping, never stay in one place. If anyone saw that shot, they'll focus here." He said as he went to look for a new sniping position. "Try to keep up."

The mission operator crackled into life on Smokescreen's comm. ++COMM-SMOKESCREEN++ "This is Autobot HQ, Smokescreen- request is denied. There's way too much anti-air support for us to get any gunships to operational height down there, so until they're out of the way, my hands are tied. Get those AAs out of the equation, and I promise I'll get you those gunships to take care of the infantry. Good luck." ++END COMM++ Nexus cursed under his breath and fired a few shots with his rifle, taking down another seeker. Noticing the shots from the building, the remaining six seekers split up, half going towards Stryke and Smokescreen, the other half opening fire on Nexus, who dived sideways and made for the stairs. ++COMM-STRYKE++ Stryke, keep your eye on the sky, take out the rest of the seekers! Smokescreen, protect Stryke and identify and eliminate any AA artillery. I'll head downstairs and barricade the doors- those infantry'll be here any minute! +END COMM++ Hurtling down towards the ground floor, he reloaded his rifle, hoping against hope that he could hold the door until the gunships arrived...

"How come you get all the less dangerous stuff..", grumbled the Autobot once Nexus was out of audio range.
Smokescreen pulled out his A-30 and began looking for the AA artileries, and began began opening fire, trying his best to ignore, or try to ignore the seekers overhead.

Stryke paused when he saw a large gap in the outer wall. He knew he'd be able to get off a couple of good shots from that position, but the Seekers would also be able to get off a few good shots at him.
"Hey, Smokescreen." He called. "We might have a small problem. There's a large gap up ahead. Looks like it's only on this floor. I'm going to take another shot at the Seekers from here, but after, I suggest we double back and move to a different floor."
He aimed his POWERGLIDE, making sure he was far back inside the building and tried to catch sight of the Seeker squadron overhead.

Smokescreen headed over to the wall, reloading his weapon on the way. As the weapon charged he snuck a peek out the whole looking for more AA artillery placements.
"Agreed!"
++COMM++ Nexus how's those doors holding? What's your status?! +END COMM++

Nexus grunted and shoved against the wall again as the guards redoubled their efforts. ++COMM-SMOKESCREEN++ "Just... ngh!... dandy, Smokescreen. Now take out those fighters!" ++END COMM++ As he said this, the six seekers, flying in an arrow formation, came in for another run, firing a spree of missiles at the two sniping Autobots. Meanwhile, one of the AA batteries had managed to lock below radar, and sent a heat seeking shell screaming towards them...

Stryke and Smokescreen continued to pick off seekers, until the last one had been sent screaming to the ground. Just as they did, the doors finally gave way, and Nexus sprinted for the stairs as an army of peacekeepers surged through. He pulled funriniture from burned out rooms and ornaments off walls to block their path, buying him just enough time to warn the others. As a three, they made for the roof, locking the door just in time. As they turned, they saw a gunship appear from the clouds, swooping down to draw alongside the building. Several lasers glanced off it from the gound, before a missile from the silos on the bottom of the transport silenced their shots. A hatch opened in the side of it, and the Autobots bundled inside as a fresh wave of Peacekeepers pulled up, only to arrive just in time to see the ship ascend back into the clouds... +++ End
