Nightbeat slowly came around. Groggily, he checked his mission timer. Almost three Breems had passed since the escape pod touched down. He sat up and held his head, his vision spinning slightly. He looked around for Staris, half expecting her to have left, only to find her out cold next to him.
He quickly checked her over and decided it would be best to leave her where she was for the time being. He stood up, letting out a groan. He turned to the navigational console, only to see it smashed. Nightbeat examined the marks on it, only to find they formed the familiar shape of his own torso. It was then he remembered his safety harness breaking.
Nightbeat stumbled out of the escape pod. He looked around and saw a dwindling plume of smoke. He pulled out his datapad, thankful it hadn't broken. He sat down and leaned against the escape pod as he entered data into the datapad and scanned the plume of smoke.

Staris came to laying prone. Looking around the escape pod, she saw the area in which Nightbeat had lain was now empty, feeling like it was the most effort she had ever expended, Staris pulled herself to her feet.
Freeing herself from the wreckage of the pod, Staris made her way outside, seeing Nightbeat propped up against the pitted hull.
"are you alright?" she asked as she joined him "i didn't think we were going to make it for a moment then" Noticing his ever-present datapad Staris couldn't contain her curiosity.
"Have you noticed something?" Leaning against the escape pods, Staris scanned the tree line that surrounded the crater their landing had formed, searching for signs of Saberfang's passage or where she had landed.
Realizing that with their uncontrolled decent to the planet, they could have easily careened off course. "Are we where we're supposed to be? We have landed close to Saberfang's touch down, haven't we?"

Nightbeat pulled himself to his feet. His head had cleared significantly since sitting outside. He turned his datapad around to show Staris something.
"I have found something, actually." He pointed to the plume of smoke in the distance. "From the look of it, something crashed there. I tapped into an orbiting satellite used to monitor the nature reserve this planet has become." He tapped the screen so it displayed pictures from the satellite. "Another crashed escape pod. I suggest we get over there as fast as we can, otherwise Sabrefang's lead will only continue to grow. She's been on the planet longer than we have, and we haven't even started moving yet."
Nightbeat stowed his datapad and stepped out of the crater and onto some flatter terain, motioning for Staris to follow. He stretched himself out and transformed.
"How'd you like a fly-drive tour of Greenleaf?" He asked as he started his engine.

Staris smiled eagerly at Nightbeat's suggestion, impatient to get to the other crashed escape pod.
"Think you can keep up, old man?" She said as she transformed.
With a shower of dirt, Staris sped off in the direction Nightbeat had indicated.

Nightbeat huffed and set off, starting off slower so as not to damage the grasslands they were on. He caught up to Staris and began directing her to the other crash site.
A short while later, they pulled up at the other crashed escape pod. Nightbeat transformed and entered the wooded area where the escape pod lay. He spotted a creature underneath the door from the escape pod.
"Staris, have a look in the escape pod for me. See if Sabrefang left anything in there."
He knelt down and examined the animal and the door. The animal had expired some time ago. The door was lying with it's interior surface facing skyward. The door had three dent on it, two of matching shape and size, and the other was different. Nightbeat looked at the ground and noticed footprints leading from the escape pod to where the door lay. Using his trust datapad, Nightbeat scanned the footprints and the dents on the door. Sure enough, the footprints were a match to the odd dent on the door.
"Looks like the door was stuck. She must have tried punching it open first, before kicking the door off it's hinges...." He muttered to himself.

Staris skidded to a halt next to the escape pod Saberfang had used. Transforming into her sleek robot form, Staris nodded to Nightbeat and stepped through the buckled door frame.
Looking around the identical pod, Staris could see that Saberfang had also had a rough landing, the debris strewn around the pod gave mute evidence to this. Searching every inch of the escape pod, she found nothing that could help in the pursuit of Saberfang.
Stepping out of the escape pod, Staris began scanning the footprints left in the dirt. to start the prints were pretty standard, but after a few steps the became different, more bestial. Following the prints deeper into the forest, Staris paused and called to Nightbeat.
"I think Saberfang has reformatted. Her trail changes and leads this way" she said, pointing in the direction the footprints indicated.

Nightbeat looked up to where Staris was. He saw a trail of footprints between the two of them, leading from his position to hers. He stood and followed them and examined the area where Staris had said she thought that Sabrefang had reformatted.
"Hmm. Yes. Yes, you're right."
He turned back to the door, then turned back and took a few more steps and scanned the new, beastial footprints.
"Hmm, I wonder....."
Nightbeat jogged back over to the escape pod's room and the animal underneath it. He scanned the beast's paws and went back over to Staris. He showed her his datapad, showing the two images and above them "99.97% MATCH"
"I think we've found her new alternate mode."
He looked up at where the tracks lead.
"I suggest we continue on foot. The forest isn't too dense, but just enough that we'd have trouble in our vehicle modes."

Staris looked at Nightbeat's datapad, noticing the corresponding features of the animal and Saberfang's tracks. Looking in the direction of the tracks left by Saberfang, and saw that Nightbeat's assessment of the terrain was correct, they couldn't transform to catch up with Saberfang.
"Well then, let's go" Staris said, beginning to pick her way through the trees.

Nightbeat set off after Staris. He really hoped that they could take down Sabrefang without incident. The forest wasn't too thick, just thick enough to slow them down a little. Overhead, a flock of strange, four-winged birds flew, letting out high-pitched shrieks. Along side them, a pack of the wolf-like creatures ran, probably going on a hunt.
Sabrefang had stopped running and had taken up a position in a tree strong enough to handle her weight. The truck was incredibly thick, as were the branches. She had climbed about half way up and hidden behind the thick leaves.
After a while, Nightbeat had taken the lead. Something was odd. The wildlife seemed much quieter. It had been a while since they'd seen any animal movement. Nightbeat held up a hand and touched Staris's arm, an act to get her to slow down.
"Something doesn't seem right."
He advanced cautiously.
Sabrefang, from her position in the tree, saw the two Autobots approaching. She carefully and quietly drew her blaster and took aim at the female one.
Nightbeat's ESP kicked in at that moment. He heard an odd rustle of leaves and his vision zoomed in on the source of the movement. There, about halfway up the thickest tree, he saw her, Sabrefang. And she had a weapon trained on Staris.
"GET DOWN!" He yelled as Sabrefang fired the Flak Cannon attachment.
Nightbeat dived to towards Staris and knocked her out of the way. The pellets from the Flak Cannon shot hit him in the left side of his torso and he went down. His optics went dark and he blacked out again.
Sabrefang cursed loudly, knowing her position was blown and she cycled another Flak Cannon shot into her weapon.
"Slag it. Ok Autobot. You and me. I don't suppose I can convince you to join me, so now we've got to do this the old fashioned way!"

Sprawling in the dirt of the forest floor, Staris heard the impact of a flak pellets impacting on Nightbeat's armour, hearing Saberfang's voice form above she reached for her sniper rifle.
With Nightbeat's body pinning her legs to the ground, Staris had no choice but to remain in that position as she sighted along her rifle aiming at the small amount of Saberfang she could see through the foliage. Simultaneously checking all variables for the shot, Staris chose the optimum trajectory and fired.

Sabrefang cried out as the shot from Staris knocked here melee weaponry away from her. The armour on her left shoulder chipped as the round hit her. Sabrefang lost her balance and fell from the tree. She hit the ground hard and was left sprawled on her back. She quickly recovered and got to her feet. She pointed her weapon in the direction of Nightbeat and Staris and fired full auto at them as she beat a hasty retreat.
