I can see where he is coming from. I don't hate the dinobots, but I hate the idea of them ever being included in the movie verse. much like unicron, they don't make sense and wouldn't work at all.

[glow=blue,2,]Care to elaborate? We wouldn't they work? I can think of a reason or two why they would. As for Unicron, it would work however the introduction of on Unicron always seems to close the ending of a TF series, so the idea has been done to death. They would need to introduce Unicron differently. Doubt that it will happen, so as the French say, "C'est La Vie!"[/glow]

They wouldn't work because Dinosaurs cant go around unnoticed. If they did the Dynobots (the dinobots before they were dinoed up) it might works. Grimlock as a tank, Swoop as some flying vehicle, etc. but even then they would have very limited roles in the movie (as even tanks and jets can't go around unnoticed.)
remember, The autobots are trying to stay out of the public eye, and are a government secret. Only decepticons blatantly reveal themselves, mostly as to a lack of caring if they are known and seen.

[glow=blue,2,]The Autobot may have been trying to stay out of the public eye, and the government may have been able to keep the existence of the Transformers a secret, so why not do the same for the Dinobots? They can throw them out of planes the same as they did Optimus. In fact, because its so easy for Transformers to change and adjust there forms, the Dinobots can switch between any acceptable earth forms. Or of course, they can even become Triple Changers, just a suggestion. But to write them off just because they turn into Dinosaurs? I guess the writers feel their not up for a reasonable challenge.
As for your limited role comment, a lot of Transformer characters had limited roles, so I don't see the difference.
Now, if the Autobots wanted to stay out of the public eye, they have been doing a bad job of it. Of course, at the end of the first movie, they had to reveal themselves and battle the Decepticons, but none the less, they were exposed. That battle would of been all over the news. The media would of reacted to that, properly thinking it was a terrorist attack, and considering how fast the media reacted to 9/11. I don't agree with your comment about Decepticons blatantly revealing themselves. Sure they don't care as much cause they will turn around and kill who ever discovered them. But in both movies they're quite involved in being stealthy.
As I said before, I have taken this statement by Bay with a grain of salt, he might just be fueling the rumor mill. But considering his comments about Arcee this doesn't surprise me. For someone who is making movies about a franchise with a massive fan base to just to say 'I hate such and such' shows a serious lack of respect for the franchise thats making him stinking rich. Take Noel and the Batman franchise, he says the less realistic characters in the Batman universe won't show up, because he feels he can't make them realistic. Fine, fair reason. But to say he hates them?
Besides, to say that the Dinobot giving themselves away because they are Dinosaurs, they give themselves away reguardless due to their lack of regard for Optimus' orders. Which is whats make them so great besides the fact that Dinosaurs appeal to kids.
EDIT:And I forgot to mention, The Fallen had told the world that Transformers do exist, so really there should be no problem to throw the Dinobots in the next film. The movie could even take the angle of other TF series where the Autobots are known by the people of earth to be the good guys.[/glow]

I can see where Bay is coming from, but in the end of the second one the whole world knows about the Transformers, kinda hard to cover that up. Sure the goverment might be able to cover it up, but if they can't than you could easily write the Dinobots in there.
