It's a hit for me, although I didn't get very far with it. Despite what I said about everything being G1 in another thread, the fact they got the old voice cast, those that are still with us, is pretty amazing. Love the cell shading feel and look of it too.

TF Devastation was a fun game with flaws IMO.
Like Hoist said, the original voice actors was a good point and the shading too. Those graphics were the right choice for the game though if they took a little more influence from the animation of the 1986 movie then the details would of been better. I personally think Megatron's face looks dodgy up close.
The music was good. Much of it felt like like a 80's soundtrack. There was that weird techno stuff here and there but over all the music was good. If they thrown in the original G1 cartoon tracks then I think it would of improved the game. Sort of how John Williams' music made Star Wars all the more better.
There were too many weapons and the whole upgrade system was cool but repetitive. I mean the thermal gun and the heat ray gun were the same thing. It got a little confusing for me but I did like powering up my weapons.
The combat was over the top. The High Moon games were good for firearms but not so much the melee. TFD could of toned it down instead of the large finishers would got predictable IMO. Also their wasn't much freedom in how you took down certain ground troops. If they had shields and a lot of them did, you had to turn into a car, power up and hit them with a timed combo. It gets boring. There should be the options of firearm and melee attacks with the addition of the character's special power. Like Sideswipe's piledrivers or Jazz's sonic speaker attack or Ironhide's liquid nitrogen gun. Also when it comes to the melee fights everyone becomes a ninja! Just looking at a video of the game play and Bumble Bee has a sword in each and it stabbing the hell out of a Insecticon clone. That's not G1 Bee's style of combat.
The landscapes on Earth and Cybertron were nice but more detail could of been provided but actually I forgive this one. If I could of run around the city like in a open world game then it would of been cool instead of all the wind and the weapon drops and stuff. It was nice to see Cybertron but I would of loved to have ventured outside in to the Cybercity landscape too. And I didn't like the open battle areas. It didn't feel right and got boring after seeing it again and again.
Loved the clones of the Seekers and the Ground Troops. Runamuck and Runabout were perfect choices for Decepticon Ground Troops.
I wish they had more Autobots to play. It would of given more reason to play the game again and again. Of course I would of been Jazz at the first chance I got but to play as Brawn, Cliffjumper, Slag, Prowl, Ironhide and Hound would of been fun. That is if they had special abilities that only they had. Like Mirage turning invisible.
Hated the Bird Eye view part and the spacebridge journey. I didn't care for the breaks after each fight were your score was displayed. I understand the Arcade theme of the game but it gets boring and game play is them interrupted.
And I wish they had put the Ark in there! I would of loved running around the Ark. Even a part where you attack the Decepticon underwater base.
One part I think was a big mistake was Devastator. They introduced him far too early.
I feel there was a lot of flaws with the game and missed opportunities. But it is very fun at first, just not a lot of replay valve. I hope I don't sound like a fussy G1er here but I have played this game a lot and wished I could play it more.
EDIT: I keep editing this post because I keep remembering bits and pieces of this game.
