So I was watching TF Basics and I know you guys know the show and Chris talks sometimes talks about a character and who they are and they're history. We all know TF characters change from one series to the next along with their toys. So I was wondering, which version of a certain character do you like the best.
I'll start off with Bumble Bee and his first version. G1 Bumble Bee was the smallest and weakest Autobot. He wasn't much of a warrior compared to his fellow Autobots or even his fellow Minibots. But he was a kind Autobot who became one of G1's mainstays. Later on he turned into Goldbug, new face and much stronger. Then later he became Bumble Bee again and was a Pretender, again gaining strength but still much like his original incarnation.
Then the live action movies came out. Bumble Bee was the main Autobot, different look and alternate mode, a warrior who did more than hold his own and he spoke in clipped radio sound bites of movie quotes and songs. This continued through out the movies and in later media like TF Prime.
Then Bumble Bee returns to his roots, sort of, in the Cybertorn games. Sporting a more G1 style but could fight and speak normally. Until the second game.
And there was TF Animated. I don't know this version that well, but he reminded me of a more kid who always getting into trouble.
Then we had version influenced by the movies but Bumble Bee was able to speak and fight.
So which do you prefer? Did I leave out a version you like?
I'm more than happy with G1 Bumble Bee. I don't mind who he is. His profile has many qualities that make up for his lack of strength and his character has substance. That said, I don't mind him being a warrior. For me, it hasn't affected my fondness for the character. I do like it when Minibots can kick ass but they don't have to be as strong as say Brawn to be a great warrior. As for his alternate modes, I don't need him to be a Volkswagen or a mini-car for that matter. It is a little weird seeing him as tall as the other regular sized Autobots but I guess our boy has grown up.
