[glow=purple,2,300]I don't think that they are gonna kill him off that easily. I'm guessin they should probably torture his butt so bad, to the point where he's beggin to be executed. And you're right, he has too much info for them to just dispose of him. And, no the beard wasn't fake. They shaved it off and cut his hair, and they said that he's 66 years old with NO injuries and in perfect health. I can't believe that. They said that his friends and family were the ones that gave away his whereabouts. Ain't that some sh**? Anyway........they say Bin Laden is next...................[/glow]

[glow=blue,2,000]The thing is though, when you capture a leader, there's always someone to take his place. So sometimes it could be a whole new ball game. Plus bin Laden may have have a counter measure upon getting caught that someone in his group may set off. So its kind of scary....[/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]Normally, yes. In the case of Iraq that's unlikely to happen. The problem with dictatorships is they invest all the power in one despot and a few handpicked Lts. Saddam's regime is gone. There is no one to replace him in terms of stature. His two adult sons are dead along with one of his grandsons.
My feeling is that he wil be executed. Preferably by the Iraqi state. I don't believe that the USA should try him. After all, Saddam hasn't committed any crimes against the USA. Other than refusing to do what America wanted which isn't on the statute books AFAIK. Nor should the UN start interfering due to the prohibition on the death penalty in such proceedings. Better by far for the Iraqi state to try, convict and execute him if they so desire.
Bin Laden is another matter. He heads up a cell based organisation. They don't invest power in the leadership. The leaders are figureheads. Each cell (of fanatical zealots) would still go on with their barbaric and senseless jihad. Doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to find Bin Laden though. Although it would cause umpteen problems vis a vis escape attempts / martyrdom scenarios. Oh well, lets see what turns up shall we.[/glow]

I just thought I'd lighten this thread a little by telling you what I heard this morning on the radio... the announcers were saying the some of the news people were comparing the looks of Saddam (when he was caught) to the homeless people of Iraq.... funniest thing I heard was that the homeless people too offense to it and asked what they were talking about.... I agree with them too....

ok we got saddam but the thing with bin laden is either he will do one of 3 things if the us is about to capture him 1. he'll either kill himself so that no one can get any information out of him 2. one of his followers will assinnate him just as the u.s. soilders have captured him or 3. he will put up a fight and start shooting at people. either way bin laden will not go down without a fight and who ever said that somebody will be right behind them once bin laden and saddam is captured is right because you may have taken out the leaders of the terrorist but the problem is still there because those people will fight for there fallen leaders until there dead and they have taken alot of people along with them.
