Ok, so at the moment i'm sitting in front of the comp with.........SOUP! And that's like my staple diet here at uni, for dinner i either have soup or go out. I just don't know any better! So please can you lot help me? Could you post easy to do recipes that would be easy to do? That take like 20 mins, and don't require TOO much cooking skill? I wouldn't normally ask, but I'm currently single, so am finding i'm having to make my OWN dinners ;D Thank you!

I wouldn't normally ask, but I'm currently single, so am finding i'm having to make my OWN dinners ;D [glow=blue,2,000]I don't think Jinx or Lust will help you with this one now.... But I like to mess around with pastas, they take 20 minutes or so.... pizza is great if you use something more the peppers.... But I think your best bet would take the extra time and make a bunch of something so you can grab and go for a few days. Not the freshest idea but it sounds like your on the fats track.[/glow]

[shadow=blue,left,300]I can't believe you L7! Why wouldn't we help with this one? I have a few recipes of my own I can lend out.
Let's see. It depends what you like really.
If you like chicken, a quick thing you can make is Take a box of velveeta cheese and shells macaroni, and get some boneless skinless chicken breasts, and cut the chicken into bit sized pieces and cook it. After you've made the macaroni, mix the chicken in with it. Now, you can either use peas, or as I also like brocoli. Mix the peas or the brocoli in with the macaroni and chicken. And Wha-La! you have a meal. And since you're only feeding one, they'll be leftovers. This meal only takes about 20-30 minutes to make.
I don't know if you have these where you are, actually I don't even know where you are, but if you like chinese food...............
You can buy these packs of Lipton noodles. They're the chinese noodles. They have them in Thai sesame, beef lo mein, or sweet and sour or Teryaki. Get a pack of those, again, with the chicken, cut it into bite sized pieces and fry it in some butter, when it's almost good and cooked, pour some soy sauce on it and cook it in the soy sauce. When the noodles and chicken are done, mix them together. You can make a side to go with it also if you like. Like some rice. You can also buy the packs of rice that only take like 5-7 minutes to cook. You can make spanish rice, chicken flavored rice, or you can get the chinese rice to go with it. This is another meal that would only take like 20-30 minutes to make.
I even have my own recipe for Chicken burritos. And yes, we eat ALOT of chicken here. It's much more healthier than the other meats. And you can't go wrong with chicken either. Anyway, for chicken burritos, I can make them several ways, but for you, the easy way would be to cook some chicken after cutting it to bite sized pieces. You can add some seasonings, whatever you like. After you cook the chicken all the way, sprinkle some shredded cheese on it and turn off the heat, put a lid on it to melt the cheese on the chicken. Cook some spanish rice. Get some onions and tomatoes cut them up in little pieces. get a tortilla, put some of the chicken in it, then top it with some of the spanish rice, then put your onions, tomatoes and some lettuce on it. You can also put sour cream and quacomole on it. Roll it up and bone apetit! That one probably takes about 30 minutes. Make sure you heat the tortilla up for like 45 seconds first in a microwave, if you have one.
or you can make chicken quesadillas. Take a tortilla, put cheese on one half, fold it over, put a lil bit of butter in a pan and on medium heat, lay the tortilla in it, cook it enough to melt the cheese, then with bite sized pieces of chicken cooked, open the tortilla with the melted cheese, put some chicken on it, with some diced up onions and tomoatoes then close it back up, cut it into 4 pieces and eat. Those are really good too.
These are some for now, when I have a lil more time to post some more, I'll give a few others.[/shadow]

Well I guess I can't expect you guys to help with EVERYTHING ;D I'm a good matchmaker though ;D
Clockwatch Chicken Cacciatore
prep time: 8 minutes cooking time: 20 minutes
ingredients... 2 tsp veg oil 4 chicken breast halves 1 med onion, sliced 1- 28oz tin of Italian Spiced Stewed Tomatoes 1 cup dry white wine (or tin of chicken broth) 1 tsp dried basil 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese 1 cup spagetti, broken in half
Heat oil in fry pan over med-high heat. Brown chicken on both sides with onion slices. Add tomatoes, win/broth, basil and pepper. Bring to boil. Stir in spagetti ove low heat, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes or until spagetti is tender. Sprinkle with cheese, cover and cook 1 min longer. Serves 4
with this recipe, I cook the spagetti separately instead and add it to the chicken for the last 3-4 minutes of cooking... that way the spagetti actually does get cooked properly... and I also cook way more spagetti than it calls for... uses 2 pans but still.... and this also give you 4 meals... unless you can eat it in 2

[shadow=blue,left,300]Good, I'm glad I could help. I have another one that I just thought of.
If you like cream of mushroom soup. Get a can and pour it in a pot with just 1/4 cup of water, then cut up some chicken to bite sized pieces and put it in the soup and cover it with a lid and let it cook for like 20 minutes on medium high heat or a little higher, but make sure you stir it every now and then. And you can have mashed potatoes and corn with it if you like. The mushroom soup is a good gravy type topping on the mashed potatoes.
Or if you like BBQ chicken, cut up some chicken and fry it in some butter then when it's nice and cooked pour a little BBQ sauce on it and cook it a little more in the BBQ and you can make a baked potatoe or mashed potatoes with it. If you have a microwave you can bake your potatoe in the micro. Take a knife and stab it all over the potatoe then pop it in the nuke for 8 minutes and you have a baked potatoe.
Or you can do my favorite. Chili cheese Fries! Just take a few potatoes, cut them into bite sized cubes and fry them in some cooking oil. Get a couple cans of the hot dog chili and heat it up, when it's done, pour it on top of the potatoe pieces then top it with shredded cheese. If you really wanna spice them up, add diced onions and tomatoes on the top with some sour cream! Those are Da Bomb!
I even tried that with some chicken. I cooked a big piece of chicken then topped it with the chili and cheese and tomatoes and onions and sour cream. OMG! It was good! ;D
Maybe you won't be the only one to try these recipes? ;D[/shadow]

Hey Dev, My best bet would be to make something that has enough food for a few days. Like make a big pasta dish that could last you a few days.
i'll ask my mates at work what they do for quicke recipes, cause a few of them live at uni as well and make dishes for just a few days.

Here's a few more recipes for you Dev...
My homemade Pancakes
1&1/2 cups Flour 4 tsp sugar 2&1/2 baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 2 eggs 2 Tbsp oil 1&1/4 cup milk
mix all ingredients together and cook! It's that easy!
I like to add chocolate chips to this for a weekend treat for my kids, but we have had these with diced apple and crumbled back bacon in them as well as mashed banana and berries... you can add anything to this pancake recipe and it's always good! These are good second day too from the toaster
Creamy Potatoe soup
*now I just do this from my own head as I feed at least 5 people with this...*
1 cup water 1/2 tsp salt 2 cups diced potatoes 3 Tbsp butter 2 Tbsp flour 1 cup diced onions or leeks if you preferr 3 cubes chicken broth 2 cups milk 1/8 tsp pepper
boil water and cook potatoes with salt till soft. Melt butter in another pot and fry onions/leeks till soft. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Add chicken cubes, milk and pepper and cook till thickened. Add cooked potatoes and their water to flour mixture and cook for a little longer. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with fresh bread... makes 4 servings
Tomato and fish stew
cooking time about 20 to 25 minutes
2 Tbsp olive oil 4 cloves garlic, minced 1 large onion or 4 shallots, chopped 1 sweet red or green pepper, seeded and chopped 1 can (28oz) tomatoes... (preferrably whole and no salt added) 1 bottle (16oz) clam juice or tin of whole baby clams 1/2 tsp dried thyme 1/4 tsp each: black pepper and dried hot pepper flakes 2 bay leaves 12 mussels (optional) 1&1/3 lb haddock or cod fillets (2-3 pieces) 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley 2 Tbsp chopped green onions
(I also add uncooked shrimp, scallops and calimari rings and not always use mussles due to time constraints)
In a large heavy saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Cook garlic, onion/shallots, and red or green pepper 3 to 5 minutes or until softened. Add tomatoes, with their juice, breaking up tomatoes with the back of a spoon. Stir in clam juice, thyme, black pepper, hot pepper flakes and bay leaves. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, umcovered, stirring occasionally, 12-15 minutes or until slightly thickened. Discard bay leaves. **If using mussels, scrub them and remove beards. Discard any that are open. If shells are only open slightly, tap lightly on counter; discard any that remain open. Add mussels to tomatoe mixture** If not using mussels, add shrimp, scallops and calimari rings. Cut fish into chunks and add to tomatoe mixture. Cook, covered until shrimp is pink and fish flakes easily with a fork and mussels open. Do not stir, but baste fish occasionally with tomatoe mixture. Discard any mussels that don't open. Serve immediately sprinkled with parsley and green onions, fresh crusty bread and a crisp salad
Bon appetite
btw... if you have a prefference of foods that would help in choosing easy recipes for you too .... I can give you some awesome Hungarian stew recipes... but I don't really know what you like outside of chicken ... although I have a good chicken one too ;D
Oh yeah... and you need a crock pot... you can cook a roast and not even have to be there for it
