Between doing coursework I quickly checked my inbox to find someone enquiring about my site, a rare site indeed. I expected he wanted to do a bit of linking, but instead he asked if I would advertise this new cartoon on discoverey channel, in exchange for some free stuff. Lame stuff mind you.
Now what caught me off guard, is the fact my site has been inactive for a long while due to school and other commitments, but it seems to be actually quite popular. And I haven't even been advertising?!? Weird.
Anywho, need advice, should I give in and get my free stuff, or shall I not be used by the machine and not advertise for them? Yay or naye?

Ok seriously, find out how your site benefits and if it'll get more hits. And ask the Green Admin, he knows this kind of stuff better then me.[/glow]

It depends what his "lame stuff" is, if he's getting more out of it than you, is it worth it?

Hoist proves a good point. And also as someone else said, if you do this, how well is it REALLY going to benefit you? But also, check more into this thing. Make sure it's not some kind of scam.

They described it as some sort of bag of goods...possibly a goody bag of some kind. To be honest, I kind of lack the time or motivation to give in, so I am resisting the machine!

Here's the actual email sent: Hey there - Great transformers site! My name is Brian, and I am managing online promotions for the Discovery Kids cartoon, “Tutenstein.” The show airs on Saturday mornings on NBC and stars Tutenstein, an undead 10-year-old “mummy boy” who thinks he is ruler of the modern world. You can visit the show’s website here: kids.discovery.com/fansites/tutenstein/tutenstein.htmlI am currently looking for sites that are interested in running promotional banners and/ or linking to the commercial spot for the show. If your site is approved and you run at least one Tutenstein digital asset at your site, you will be awarded with a Discovery Kids t-shirt, bag or watch and a Tutenstein comic book. In addition, select sites will be eligible to receive an entertainment promotional package. If you think you would like to run a banner or a link to the TV spot, please email me back with a link to your site(s) that you’d like to host something on. If your site is approved for Tutenstein promotions, I’ll send you a link to the site where you can get the assets. Thanks!
