[glow=blue,2,300]Several points. Firstly it's typical of the American president to be standing the wrong side of the bar to actually pull that handle - all he'd do is break it if he pulled it from that side!
Secondly, I doubt Bush is stupid enough to order a draft. Whatever else he is he's quite a capable politician who knows the Republicans would be major league shafted in the 2006 midterms and the 2008 General Elections if he ordered a draft.
Unfortunately AutobotsDie its the insurgent terrorist forces who are blowing up half of Iraq. And incidentally murdering women whose only crime is to have spent 30 years living in Iraq and helping its people. Sorry but whatever you think of the overthrow of Saddam and the subsequent occupation, it's a fact. It can't be wished away. As JC once said - alea jacta est - the die is cast. There's no backing out now unfortunately. The problem is it's never the politicians who have to pay the price for the actions they order.
Blaster - please tell me you have a knowledge of World War I and what the politicians said about the troops then. I would consider it to be an ironic comment from Blair and Co but unfortunately having seen how they've politicised the civil service I don't think they know what irony is. They probably think its like goldy but a bit stronger.
Sorry to be so morose, but I'm in that kind of mood. BTW -Firebox - my thoughts are with you. I don't envy you the task ahead. [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,000]He knows AD, its just that Percy is extremely knowledgable about it all, everything form history to international affairs and knows whats going on, so when its brought up, being the kind of person he is, he has a big heart and has to say what concerns him. I don't blame him, this whole war has my 2nd's parents house all up in the air. The bit about the its the men and women in the service who pay the biggest price is all too true and sad.[/glow]
