[glow=purple,2,300]No, the plug is released when it's time to go into labor. That's how you know you're about to have to charge it to the hospital. You lose the plug and either your water will break on it's own or like I had to with Kayla, the nurse will have to break your water for you. And yes, DW it is safe to swim while pregnant. I just wouldn't advise it if you know you're close to your delivery date.
And you don't really want to know what the "Plug" is. To describe it would probably gross you out. Let's just say it's a part of the pregnancy as well as many others that just don't need to be discussed. At least not on here......... ;D
See, when I went into labor with Kayla, I was actually a week overdue. I went to the powder room, seen I lost the plug, and within minutes, the contractions kicked in. I paced the floor for at least 2 hours before HA came home. I had my mother in law on the phone to talk to me to keep me calm, not that I wasn't, but since I was home by myself, it helped. Got to the hospital and I was fully dialated and all, just my water wouldn't break on it's own. So, they had to break it themselves. It only took me 5 minutes if even that to push Kayla out. My total Labor time was 4 hours. It would have been shorter, but being they had to break my water, administer the epidural, and THEN, to top it all off, I had to restrain from pushing that baby out for like 45 minutes to wait for the doctor. The mofo was at home sleeping! It IS NOT easy holding back a baby when it is ready to come out. TRUST ME! I thought I was going to die. LOL, you should have seen HA's face. It's like the whole time he was thinking nothing but, "man, I'm sooooooooo glad I don't have to go through this."[/glow]
