Minibots are cool. Little Transformers with attitude. But sometimes they don't really work.
Huffer and Gears are trucks and Brawn is a jeep. That makes then as big or bigger then some of the other Autobots, or at least they should be. Then the second wave of Minibots, Powerglide is a jet and Warpath is a tank. Doesn't make much sense.
Now as much as I'd like to see Minibots short and you can justify there size with what ever TF technology you want. I think some of them work being large. Warpath in WFC works as a big dude. Powerglide would work as a tall guy for me, same as most of the second wave of Minibots. Brawn as a short but uber tough robot is classic TF but I think I could see him a bigger. Now as for the rest, it would be a bit hard for me to picture then taller and bigger. Bumble Bee has gone through some changes and is bigger then a minibot now adays, but if you really think about it, some of these Minibots should be as big as Optimus Prime.

Agreed. That all just came from them scaling them with their toys in G1. Made no sense, but they did. Warpath and Powerglide should definitely be huge, bigger than Optimus. Huffer should be about Optimus sized. Brawn could be shorter because of the type of jeep he was (and he's just transform wide instead of tall).

I dunno, I agree when it comes to alt mode sizing it doesn't work, but I can't see them as larger versions. I guess I'm just used to how it is. With the live movies flaws it does work with Bumblebee just being a "small Autobot", but things like Warpath's tank and Powerglide's plane alt modes do feel out of place, all of them really I guess.
I don't agree about Warpath, even being a tank I think over a minibot, maybe just under Prime size like Ironhide. Powerglide you can work larger being a plane, and, look at the classics/Universe/2.0 (Whichever one it was) Powerglide. Some thought the toy was much too big for Powerglide, I was one of them at the time, but then that's because I'm too used to the idea of "Minibots". If you think, I suppose on that scaling it is right. Huffer wouldn't work as a small truck though, you don't get "small trucks", so he could effectively work much much taller. By which standards Cosmos should be huge like Movie Jetfire.

Huffer could Transform to be squat, I guess as could Warpath. Warpath would still be large though. But yeah, Powerglide is way out of scale of the type of plane he is. Cosmos would be a small UFO, you never know

I think this is more a case of Minibots - Are there size justified. Rather than do we need them, which the conversation hasn't really been about. I mean we all need our smaller bots for spys, scouts and sneaky recon! Getting into places the regular sized bots can't.

I like the idea of them being smaller protoforms. My theory being that when they got earth forms the scanners didn't account for size of the relevant vehicles, because Cybertronians can be many different sizes and don't have to accomodate humans, so it just scaled them down to fit the protoform.
