++Fourteen solar cycles on from the failed Operation: Plaugeswarm++ ... ++The old sight of Fort St. Pyrotron.++ Two weeks had passed since the decimated Autobot forces had uncovered the ancient military base, jutting out of the Sonic Canyons. Once used as a watchtower between Autobot and Decepticon forces, the famed Fort St. Pyrotron has now become a makeshift home for the remaining survivors, a mix of Hellraiser's commandos and Lightningrod's scientists. Perceptor found himself, along with the other science experts, on monitor and maintenance duty in the bowels of the base, the baking hot and cramped foot of the mountain. Nexus hadn't been seen since he had refused to settle at the base and taken off a week ago. Torque and Smokescreen were on the night watch outside the main entrance, bitterly cold and open to the wind. Each of the two sects simply tried to keep out of each other's way. None had a plan. All were simply trying to survive. OOC: Aaand.. GO!

Perceptor had done his best to organize the scientists and put them on a work schedule to fix the old fort. He realized that it was possible that the Decepticons would find them soon, it was only a matter of time.
He was on his way to his make shift quarters when he saw Smokescreen and Torque at a distance. Perceptor realized that he spoken to them in days. Feeling bad, the Autobot scientist went other to speak with his friends to see how they were keeping up.

"Hey Torque, I think my leg joints are seizing up", uttered Smokescreen and began marching back and forth three space lifting his legs right up in an exaggerated manor. "I hope something happens soon, how you holding up?"

Torque was down in a prone position, his sniper rifle pulled tightly to his shoulder and his optics to the scope, keeping watch for any distant Decepticons.
"You think you've got it bad with your leg joints? I've not been able to move for the best part of two Breems!"
He briefly set down his rifle and struggled to his feet before picking up his weapon and slinging it over his shoulder. He shook off the frost that had formed over his body.
"Times like this, I regret picking Security as my function. You see anything?"

'Perhaps we should trade tasks then Torque?.' Perceptor asked as he joined his friends. 'It seems we are at our wits end. The time spend here has not been productive and we have been reduced to keeping appearances. With no Intel we are blind and lack motivation. I fear that by the time we are called to action, our fellow Autobots won't have the motivation or worse, the energon to perform.'

Torque flinched upon hearing a voice from behind him. He spun around to see Perceptor. He smiled, seeing the only other remaining member of their original group.
"Good seeing you again Perceptor. Was beginning to think you'd got lost in there."

Perceptor walked past Torque as if in a daze. 'In a way I was lost. And I still am. Here we are, the survivors of a failed mission, and instead of moving on to the next were are wasting away our lives as this war has left us in a state where were nothing more the primitive androids running basic routines. We are intelligence beings at the mercy of a beast who's nature isn't that of simple life rituals but instead it's nature is that of destruction, merciless destruction leaving nothing for the victor. And we have survived this long because we are cogs in this war machine! We live to serve the beast. And then what happens after wards? When we are done with this war, assuming their is a side to claim they won, will we be as useless as this old fort? With no war, what function does this fort, or us serve?'

"I can't say for certain about me or Smokescreen here, but you'll no doubt be making all kinds of scientific breakthroughs. In a way, I kinda want the 'Cons to find us. I'd rather go down fighting instead of running out of Energon.
Anyway, on a lighter note, you heard anything from Nexus? As much of a pain in the tailpipe he can be, it'd be a shame if he got taken out."

Perceptor answered by shaking his head, for he had heard nothing of their comrade.

"Torque is right", continued Smokescreen, "You can always carry on your scientific work here, but us, we're reduced to ornamental statues. I think it's about time we found someone here that does know what's going on and what the next move is!", cheered the Autobot, trying to get their motivation up.
"What do you say professor? Are we gonna stand here like guard dogs or be the dogs of war and bit the Decepticons on their ski plates?!"

'As always Smokescreen, you do know how to provide a distraction. And I need one to get away from this case of depression that seems to have consumed me.'
Perceptor signaled over to two other Autobots who's rank was lower then his to take over the guard stations of Smokescreen and Torque. He then allowed his fellow Autobots to lead the way.

As the band of comrades made their way back into the base, Brazier, Lightningrod's second in command, was down in the depths, having taken over from Pereptor's shift. He was just recalabrating the energon capacitors of the main shield batteries, when he heard a gentle rumble from deep in the pipes. Frowning, he beckoned over one of his team and asked him to check the next level down for any problems. "Sure, boss. Be back in a minute." "Thanks..." +++ Perceptor, Smokescreen and Torque felt the rumble too. Looking around, Torque thought he noticed a hint of movement, a sliding sound, and just the tips of a transformer's feet being dragged around the corner. Perceptor could here a buzzing in his audio sensors, and Smokescreen thought the room had gotten darker...

Torque narrowed his optics where he thought he saw movement.
+++COMM+++ "Try not to react to this, but I think I saw something move. Looked like a prone figure being dragged away. I'm going to check it out." +++COMM+++
Torque made a quick check of his Energon levels. He wouldn't be able to stay in his Ghost form long, but it would be long enough to check. Torque vanished from sight and made his way over to the corner, walking through the wall and out onto the other side.

Trying to act relaxed but failing badly as acting was never a strong point of Perceptor's, the science bot looked around and pretending that something caught his attention. All the while getting his blaster ready to be drawn easily if needed.

"Is it me or did some one just turn down the lighting?", asked Smokescreen to noone in particular and turned his headlights on one quarter.
