I was thinking - shouldn't Unicron be tougher to beat?
I can't remember in the Armada+series how they beat him, but sticking with the 1986 movie, regular transformers are ants in comparison to the size of Unicron. A ship crashing through one, eye, then later the other being taken out was a good strategy, but what of the like of sludge trying to break the armor or any of the opther Transformers/junkions attacking. Shouldn't Unicron be more the total death bringer? He did after all squash a hand on Cybertron!
Of course there's the old "Oh it was a cartoon movie", but I mean realistically, could the Transformers have beaten Unicron? (Had it not been really for Hot Rod "lighting their darkest hour"
In todays 4 for 4, we ask could the Transformers really beat Unicron?

Unicron suffered badly from what I call "Death Star Syndrome". Uber powerful death bringer that can obliterate a planet with ease, but taken down by something pretty unimpressive.
All Hot Rod did was open the Matrix and become Rodimus Prime, and that somehow made Unicron spazz out and explode. In my opinion, only a gestalt should have enough firepower to even dent Unicron, but the only transformer that could properly face him is Primus.

Realistically, I'd say the Transformers as an entire race could defeat Unicron, but I think Cybertron would have been destroyed in the process. Transformers are a space faring, warrior race with all sorts of weaponry and so I'd way Unicron could be defeated. 1 million to 1 odds are bad odds no matter how big you are.
But, they wouldn't be able to inflict the damage they did do like Rodimus throwing Galvatron through Unicron and into space. That kind of this, I call bull crap on.
In many ways, I never liked the idea of the Matrix being the ultimate weapon against Unicron. I've envisioned the struggle between Primus and Unicron quite different (and have thought about putting these into fanfics) where Unicrons desire is to eliminate Primus, plan and simple, and Primus's master stroke is that he has spread himself over millions so that, even if Unircon destroys Cybertron (and his physical self) he still exists through out the galaxy in every Transformer meaning that he remains to create and defend against Unicron.
The Matrix is just a McGuffin to solve an impossible problem in the easiest way possible.

Unicron was treated all wrong. Something that big would of upset Cybertron's orbit, it's gravity and atmosphere so much with his size that Cybertron wouldn't have recovered. And it Cybertron would of been so damaged then all on the planet wouldn't fair any better. So for all the Dinobot's efforts, Rodomus Glavatron throwing and eye poking, it doesn't add up to being realistic as Unicron would of been so much tougher.
The Transformers were suppose to be Primus' answer to combat Unicron...In the comics anyways. But I can't really think of any weapons they have that would take down Unicron, so I guess the Transformers would need to know Unicron was coming and would need to get inside of him to take him down. Or booby-trap a planet some how, then again Spike and Bumble Bee blew up a moon while Unicron ate it and it didn't kill Unicron...

It would've been a great season, wouldn't it? The Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces oooooooooof... Unicron! The comics, once again, handled this better. When Unicron waged war on Cybertron, everyone united against him, utilizing their combined Primus-given might to beat him, before Optimus delivered the killing stroke with the Matrix. The whole Primus actually being Cybertron at it's core was awesome, and lead to some great stories as I remember. So a full season or two fighting on Unicron's surface against Galvatron, with the movie introducing the we foe, would've been great, and tapped an awesome villains potential.

I agree with the Primus bit, but for all their weaponry, I think they'd haveto have something pretty special to defeat him, specialty weapons - if you will. Perhaps this should been an idea after the movie? Not taking the chance that he might be dead completetly and gradually rebuild Cybertron whilst trying to make better weapons for the future incase he is reactivated..
Although by that reasoning, it would assume logic and Unircon should've been stripped of anything that could make him work ie key components to make sure he never awakens!
Agreed it's one of those unrealistic things because it is a cartoon movie, and was just for an aesthetic moment.
