They may have a valid point! But I still feel that it's the parents responsibility to teach their children the difference between right and wrong and reality and fantasy... then the child is well armed, with the proper enforcement to make the decision on their own as to how to use the toys...
When TA was 2 he wanted TMNT and I wouldn't give them to him... even though he'd seen the show at a bbst's house and my friend gave him a b-day cake with Michaelangelo on it and he went nuts over it... I still didn't give in until he was about 5 or 6 before he got any TMNTs or TF's even (I even hid some of the gifts from his friends that were violence related till I thought he was more able to understand)... but by then he knew the difference a little better, plus I reinforced right and wrong to him constantly....
I still to this day will NOT allow him to watch Power Rangers... or Yvonn of the Yukon... too much stupidity and violence... plus Yvonn just bugs me senseless... and kids/teens morphing just isn't within my realm of reality

[glow=blue,2,300]What I find incredibly sad is that there are grown adults who actually get paid to engage in this form of censorship. Perhaps they should focus more upon the abuse of children by adults than on what children like as a form of entertainment.
The whole thing about "oh look, it teaches children that violence is the best way to solve problems" is completely at odds with reality. It may be lamentable, but force is the surest way to solve anything. Negotiating with Hitler or Stalin did nothing to curb their lust for power. Politely asking Napoleon to stop wandering across Europe with several hundred thousand of his chums was not going to stop him. Dropping atomic weapons on Nagasaki and Hiroshima was arguably the only way to convince Japan that it would pay a prohibitively high cost to continue its brutal rape of Asia and Oceania.
Are these people related to Neville Chamberlain by any chance?[/glow]

I think that maybe the whole point is that children do learn from what they see/watch/experience... as do all people, but children are far more susceptible...
You are right however, using that as a basis point for their censorship, when there are far more serious ways for children to experience the violence and then reproduce it, is abominable... there should be closer regulations on such horrible offenses and shy of brute force it's highly doubtful to come under control before everyone has had their say in their own kind of censorship...
I'm thinking that the only real way to protect our children... is for the parents of said children to become more active in their kids' lives and know the 5 w's of their kids' lives and teach them well enough to know right from wrong...
Did what I just say make sense? I hope so

[glow=blue,2,300]What you said makes perfect sense. Parents should fulfill their responsibilities when it comes to bringing up their kids. My parents never used to let me watch films like the Teminator when i was a kid. I was the only person in my class not to have seen it by the age of 12.
When I finally did see it (at about 16) at a friends, I was terrified first off all. Then I watched Predator, Aliens, etc (Aliens still freaks me out - overactive imagination!) and I'm fine with them now. But, my parents took repsonsibility for managing my childhood to make sure that anything completely out of order didn't get into my hands or head. If paretns do their task properly, there's no need for interfering busybodies to stick their noses into things.[/glow]

[glow=blue,2,000]I agree Perceptor, but I'm sure we all got in to trouble even with the strictest of parental units. Like HA said, its takes a Village to raise a child. But still, TF black listed ain't cool. Poor Trick Attack...[/glow]

TA ain't poor ... he's spoilt rotten.... period...
Thankfully, though, he knows the difference between right and wrong... doesn't always do the right thing, with his toys... likes to scare the daylights out of his sisters with his TF's the dragon Megatron especially...(as brothers do... and sisters scare brothers with Barbies) but he's mature enough to know that it's been created from someone's imagination... I think these things inspire him to his own creativity... and in a positive way too

Enough said.

Im not a violent person as such but obviously its well known to some that I do martial arts, plus I tend to like violent films more than 'normal' ones. As such its much of my personality and I am of the thinking it never did me any harm so i will have no problem with my kids watching stuff (within reason) when i have them. I'd be more concerned about small parts and the like than the subject matter of the toy. Just my opinion, no offence intended.

Didnt know you had kids? Must have missed that...
But yeah i wouldnt give the 'figures' so much as toys. Any MCfarlane stuff is pretty much unsuitable for kids.
