or irks you?
Annoy: G1 Purists Sure G1 was great the original , but i hate people that are so against everything else completely unless it's G1 or G1 related.
Scalpers: Ones that go and buy a ton of a new figure for the sake of it, Transformers aren't just for collectors, they are for new generations of fans too, and kids.
whiny fanboys: "OMFG! Megatron is a frikken tank in the new movie not a tank!" Or crying because Optimus is a fire engine. Boo f***ing hoo. Yeah, they're up there with the purists. Noone has to like everything, that would be just annoying, it's how you communicate it and share your thoughts that define you.
So what about you, any pet hates?

Maybe, i've no idea what he is in the movie, it's still the same mentality reguardless.
Some of the negativity over this new movie is shocking considering they're supposed to be "fans". Sure Bay is a reason to be worried, but what ever happened to an open mind? I'm not jumping up and down/screaming getting all excited over the movie, but i try to be optimistic at least. Again if you love everything for it just because it's being "Transformers" that would be OTT, but it's how you voice these opinions. Some are quite pathetic really.
Already we have Anti Bay t-shirts going around.

Already we have Anti Bay t-shirts going around. That is rather pathetic. While I have strong doubts, I really should be shocked about it. Heck, might turn out all right in the long run. Thats how I feel about the new 007 atm.

Yeah, that's...ludicrous. We don't even know enough about the movie to make any definite judgements.
My pet peeve: elitists. They usually take the form of G1 purists, but sometimes not. Anyone who will outright reject some part of TF's without taking the time to judge it on its own merits.

[glow=blue,2,000]Right now, I thinking they're going about their dislike for the leaked images of Megatron the wrong way at the moment. No one wants to hear whinning....[/glow]

Unfortunetly there is alot of that whinning, especially if it's not so precious to G1 and looks exactly how they remember it. I do have concerns over the way these new ones look in there bot morde yes, but reasonably, objectivly, when you see comment slike "worst.design.ever" or "Why is this even called Transformers" it can be very disheartning.
That's why i love everyone here, no whinning screaming hysterical fan-boys.

I think it's a problem with people in general and not just confined to 'elitist/purest' TF fans. A lot of internet tough guys like to try and tell everyone their opinion which is fine but then they lose the plot when people chose not to agree. There is a big difference between having your own opinion and forcing an opinion on others. Like I always say the world would be pretty boring if we all liked the same things.
Whilst I am not sold on the new movie designs just yet, I am finding the chnage of TF style refreshing in an age of unoriginality.

And that helicopter guy, he looks awesome! Prime, not sure yet as I've only seen a drawing of him. Now I don't really like Starscream's look, I mean he's usually a pretty sexy guy most of the time.... *sees everyone eyeing him strangely after that comment* What? However, the new look does have him looking very sneaky and untrust worthy. But Megs, I think it misses what the character is about. It says more brainless monster then military mad man.

Yeah one of my pet peeves is G1 Purists. I was talkign to someone how good the original series was, I then when on to talk about BW and how that was a great series and they didn't want to hear any of it. They looked at me as if i was form a diff planet.
When i heard the new movie was gonna come out, i knew that the somehow the designs were going to be different compared to G1. Ive seen some of the design for the toys and i like it as its different. Yeah i know Starscream looks weird compared to his normal modes but as L7 said it could be part of his sneaky untrustworthy nature.
I like the Helicopter and Scorponok and soem of the other ones ive seen. With Megatron i looked at and thought that doesnt look like a Megatron too me. But even though i may not like it, i wanna see how they go with this. That how i am with the whole movie in general, I may lke some stuff and i may not like some stuff but i wont pass judgment on the movie on a whole until i have seen it in the cinema.

And there's also a big difference between having your own opion and how you convey that opinion, which was my original point. You only have to look at some of the comments of a well known transformer site i guet my news from (1 of two sources) to see that. And that's no reflection on the site - at all, but those individuals,. Is it that hard to express your own opions without whinning and generally acting like a spoilt 7 year old child?

Agreed, it's all about maturity. Let's face it the stereotypical 'fan' isnt a social wizard in their daily life, so how can they be expected to contribute in a mature and adult way on a internet message board?
Steel and I used to discuss the culture of internet tough guys at length, the same also applies to the age of the phone and text communication, basically anything that isn't face to face. People think they can say what they like to anyone via technology 'because it's their opinion', but I severely doubt the same would be true of that individual if it were a face to face meeting. I lose track of the amount of people who have the communication skills of a bulldozer in my daily life (I spend a lot of time on the mobile in my job). It ranges from the out right rude to the ramblings nothings of muppets. None of it helps anyone and can only be ultimately detremental to whatever your goals are as a person or a company/group. The same can be said of the fan communities on the internet.
I am not always one for generalising but unfortunately in my opinion I find a lot of what i've said here to be true.
All this said I accept the state of affairs, and whilst I do not always like it I can look past it. If someone wants to spend their life in self pity being negative, depressing and generally complaining about everything under the sun I have no intention of letting it rub off on me or affecting anything I do. Leave them to it I say.

Oh man... all these MOVIE-HATERS kinda get on my nerves; but with the movie set to debut in less than a month maybe it'll quiet everyone down. If not, at least they'll HAVE SEEN the movie so their rage will be *justified*.
I am a longtime G1 fan and it's my favorite, but I also enjoy BW and BM... now, to be honest, I never got into the Armada/Energon/Cybertron shows. Some of what I seen I really liked, some of it I didn't. But I didn't flood message boards with hate or hunt down supporters of those series and belittled them. To each their own. For every G1 "purist", there is a BW fan who mocks the "stories and characterization" of the original series. And I've seen quite a few fans of Cybertron blast not only G1 but also BW for being "old" and "boring" and not looking "cool" compared to the new series.
I just don't like people who 1) give something a chance before hating on it and 2) refusing to accept the fact that just because YOU don't like something means NOBODY should.
