Figured, we have a thread to talk about our new toys, why not our new comics?
I just got the Beast Wars Omnibus. I had the 4 comics in The Gathering but I hadn't gotten The Ascending or the Source books, so I downed the money for this bad boy and got it all.

I've just caught up on reading Infiltration and Stormbringer for the first time! Just Escalation and Evolutions to go.
Have really enjoyed the first two, despite a bit too much human interaction in Infiltration - but I like Verity as a character.

I can't be mad at the human interaction in these comics. They were good, nothing really corny. At least the writers really provided some reason as to why the humans were needed, and at least it wasn't some 10 year old kids!
I've read most of these issues but I need to buy them. Especially the last All Hail Megatron issues. I've fallen way behind, life of a student I suppose...

I've not been able to keep up with them due to the lack of comic stores. I had just found a collector store that carried comics a while back but it was getting ready to move, and when it re-opened, the owner decided just to go with a game store selling board games, card games and stuff like that.
The latest thing I bought transformers wise was the last issue of Maximum Dinobots that I missed because of said store moving. I also found the War Within Omnibus at Boarders but I haven't picked it up yet.

I got TRANSFORMERS WAR FOR CYBERTRON EXODUS!! This book is interesting. The arthur hasn't drifted too far from what we all ready know about the origins of Cybertron and TF. I won't give away anything for those who want to read it but I will say I'm happy my favorite TF has appeared.

Not new, but I picked up on where I left off with the original Marvel Comics. (UK) After a long bad period, it's finally picking up with the Mayhem squad and Thundewrwing. I had long stopped reading them by then as a kid, sometime in 1987 and co-coincidently when I started senior school. Thought I see what I missed, and for a while not much.
So yet it's picked up, the odd, one-off silly story notwithstanding. (Arcee's Prime's Rib story on building a femmebot because Earth females called them sexist!)

I've finished TF Exodus and I'm divided on it. Its suppose to be the new, ultimate canon made up of elements of other TF series' and used for years to come. We'll see.... anyways, while I like some of it and some of it is brilliant, its rushed on the story. A good portion of it is a some up of the events that happened on Cybertron during the war. Not bad but it feels thrown in and fast-forwarded through. And the book is just less then 300 pages, so its kinda packed tighter then Soundwave's chest with all his minicons. Yeah, that's what the book refers to them as. I think this would work for me better if the book was longer and if we hadn't seen so many rewrites on the history that has come before this one. Plus, it doesn't relate directly to the video game. Rather miss-leading. And with Hasbro stating that WFC is suppose to be the ultimate canon, I wonder if they mean the book or the game or both. Cause the book is actually a better sum-up of different TF series elements then the game. www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/video-games-17/tfw2005-war-for-cybertron-interview-with-aaron-archer-and-matt-tieger-168910/www2.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/discover/movie-news/EXODUS.cfm

Exodus is a great book. It does have a few small internal continuity glitches, but is otherwise stupendous. The contradictions with the game WFC can be chalked up to the fact that Allen Irvine never payed the game, and thus wasn't privy to some of the information developed in the later stages of game development. The plots are basically the same though, even if some of the details differ. Unfortunately, I can't play the game. The book does work better as the main definitive story though, with the game as supplementary to it, which I believe was what's intended. And yes, it confirms the identities of some of the Thirteen who were previously in doubt among fans.
