I can't login
As an increased security measure, ProBoards now requires your e-mail address to login, if you have forgot your password however, there is still the "Forgot Password" on the login page. Provided your e-mail is still current and active. On the "Recover Password" screen, type in either the username of your forum account, or your email address in the box provided. Once you click the "Recover" button, an email will be sent to your email account with further instructions on how to reset your account password. To login, type in your email address along with your password on this page. After that is entered, click the "Continue" button found at the bottom of the page.
If you only have one account registered on the forum, you will be taken to the index page of the forum and will be automatically logged into that forum account. If you have multiple forum accounts, however, you'll be taken to a "Select Account" page. Once here, simply click on the name of the account you want to login to the forum as. You will then be taken to the index page of the forum you're visiting and will be logged into the account you chose. If the login attempt fails and you get an error message, it's possible the username/password you provided does not match our records.
What's changed in V5?
The forum software in V5 is a lot more streamlined with a drop down navigation menu underneath the main menu, (Simply hover over the first bar to navigate), as well as the ability to like posts follow other members (if both parties follow each other follow each other they become "friends", follow their activity. Many things have been over-hauled like an improved way to make polls, a better page navagtion system stays at the top of your browse as the page scrolls, and much more
How do I change My Avatar and Signature
Pretty much the same way, by going to the profile menu link and clicking Edit Profile. Automatically, the default tab is "Avatar", so just change the picture and hit Save Avatar Changes. Click on the Personal tab to change your signature, display name, password and other personal info. The new Social tab is where you can change your social networks links if you wish to Facebook, Google +, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. The Settings tab lets you set all your personal forum settings like whether to show avatars and signatures, what theme to use and other basics. The Privacy setting is pretty much self-explanatory, regarding who can see you, your e-mail, birthday and how much of your activity you wish to show. In the Notifications tab you can set what notifications you get sent and whether you get a notice either on the board or by E-mail. In Badges, you can give other members badge gift icons, but be warned these cost from ProBoards shop. (Usually about $1.)
Changes to Personal Messages
Personal Messages have changed slightly, instead of getting a new message every time; messages now display like threads. This is also helpful as you can see keep track of who said what and not have to keep referring back to a separate message.
Posting/Posting in and Making New Threads.
As usual the New thread (now Create Thread) is still there, as is the reply button. To Multi-quote from quotes on the same page there is now a little gear icon to the very right (Of Quote, Edit and Thumbs Up.), if you click on this gear icon you can select the "Select Post" option at the top. If you do this to all the posts you wish to quote, they will all be there when you hit the Reply link. If you wish to copy from different pages however, there is still some copying and pasting you would have to do.
Moderaters and staff can use this gear icon also to moderate posts and threads etc, where they would used to click "Advanced Moderation" in the past.
When you make a new post, you will notice there are now to dual editors. The Preview editor will show you how the post will actually look in live time, whereas the BBCode will naturally show you the entire post in BB code form. In the Preview editor there is also a Remove Formatting button, the F button, where you can clear any font styling. (Colored, bold italics text, font size etc.) Both the Font Face and Font Size menus are now drop down menus, and most of the form buttons are the same. (No more "Glow" however! Instead of a drop down color menu for colored font we now have a much easier colour picker. The mechanics of the List function are slightly different but much easier to use, and the link button also works differently. No more will you have to encapsulate a link in [ url ] and [ / url ] tag. Instead type a word like for example Link, highlight it and then when the dialogue box comes up, just add an url to the bottom form and hit Create Link, and it will be done. You can now add Videos and User Links, in the latter, just add a member's username and their profile will come up and inset into the thread allowing you to tag a member. We also have to custom buttons - SP for a spoilers button and another with a paintbrush to draw a picture. The latter however is on a limited trial at the moment.
