I think this can tie into how we believe transformers come to life. Do they just come alive, do they crawl out of the well of sparks, built or otherwise?
If I was to say there's no need for romance, a close friendship, as friends, comrades, buddies, partners, yep fine. Other than that no. So no matter how they are created, if they are gender-less what is the need for female transformers in the first place other then getting female fans into the Transformers universe/franchise? (A good thing.) I noticed alot of it (To me) is Japanese, Japanese nonsense if I maybe frank. I guess we're going to open up a big debate into Reproduction Vs continuing life/their species - sentient robots - all again going back to creation and how as an individual you believe they come online or if/how they create more Transformers.

I'm quite happy with coming out of the Well of Sparks because most other creation theories and processes have flaws. But the part that makes sense for me is the fact that Transformers are highly socialized beings and do have emotions. As for doing the nasty, nah! And yes the japanese stuff is nonsense. But as for a full on romance, personally I don't care much for it. But when it comes to my characters I'd make two of them life companions who just enjoy each others company. After all TFs don't need to sleep like humans and can live for millions of years, it gets a little lonely when you have that kind of time on your hands.

I've always liked the idea that Transformers are genderless, despite some seeming more male and others more female in personality to a human. I've also always been fine with the idea of Transformers being in love with each other in many different ways. It has nothing to do with intercourse. They are beings with emotion and personality, and if they are capable of strong friendships why not more than that. I have no problems with Transformers loving each other as brothers/sisters, a father/son type bond, or even a romantic type bond. Their origin has never been from sexual reproduction, but just because they don't reproduce doesn't mean that a highly socialized species wouldn't seek out individuals they enjoyed to be around.

You know it kills me when some fans go on about how TFs have kids so they have sex. And they compare TFs to humans saying that since their so similar that in many things that they must do it. Thats properly the reason why theres so must pervert fan art out there. But in Star Trek the Vulcans, an alien race, mate every seven years. So IMO this need for TFs to have sex or be in love doesn't have to be an reality just because it's our human reality.
