A few years ago when I was in university, I was in a liberal studies class called the 'Culture of Science' It was basically a class that discussed what we believe to be the acceptable reality of science and reality. It was one of the coolest classes I had ever taken. The first day the teacher showed us the beginning of 'The Hills Have Eyes Part 2', where a team of scientists, dress in radiation gear are on a nuclear test site and are attacked by cannibalistic mutants.
So he then asked us to identify what was actually real in the clip we just watched. We said the nuclear testing sites, radiation, mutations caused by nuclear radiation and cannibalism. So this was to be the break down of the class, studying the real science behind these things that we see in TV, Film and Books. So I had to write an essay on a topic about the science in a particular movie or TV series. I chose James Bond. In my essay I wrote about the science behind the gadgets seen in the movies and a lot of it exists in one form or another. A book that helped me was called 'The Science of James Bond' written by Lois H. Gresh.
So I got to thinking, what if there was a book about the science of Transformers? So I found Lois H. Gresh's email and wrote her. I didn't think she would get back to me but she did! She told me that she would love to write one and that she had actually pitched the idea to her publisher, the same who published the JB book. Sadly they and said no and the publishers no longer exist. But had, I really didn't think she'd get back to me.

That's great!
There's lots that could be covered like space-bridge technology. the science of miniturization, time-jumping in comics, lots and lots of things that could be looked in too.
