There have been a few versions of Blaster and I would like to talk about 3 of them.
In the original show, Blaster was a music loving Autobot, like Jazz, who loved trashing Decepticoms.
In the Marvel comics, he was a serious, brooding and grim Autobot who didn't really have a good time trashing Decepticons as he hated them and the war.
In the IDW comics he was a reporter who later went underground with a pirate radio show to spread the word about the Decepticons.
Which do you prefer? I lean towards the Marvel version and would even go a far as to say he was the first Renegade as he didn't like authority so much and broke the rules. The IDW version is a logical course of direction I think. And the show version is pretty much what his tech spec is like.
Also, which face did you like? He had a plain rather boring face in the show IMO. In the comic he had that cool visor style of eyes and that funky cross plate on his face, I think he was the first TF to have that.
All in all I think Blaster was a really cool TF/Character/Toy. First ghettoblaster and he was the answer to the Decepticons Soundwave, a good contrast in terms of personality too. Plus he didn't have his own minions yet and he was still a cool character!

Te trouble with the show is he came off as a poor man's jazz impersonation, I much prefer the visor wearing Marvel comics. Rescuing Scrounge from the Smelting pool (Then using the giant pumps for the lava - "Eat molten lead!") sealed him as a pretty interesting character for me. I wasn't to keen on the show/movie version to be honest. I didn't mind the show/movie look it's one we're all use too but it did look like he had bunny ears and the Marvel version he looked more like the Flash!

OMG, he does look a Flash a little, heh!
I do prefer Marvel's Blaster too. Far more interesting and badass. Thats how I would role-play him too.
