HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY, BEAST WARS!On April 22nd, 1996, the Maximals and Predacons arrived on television screens for the first time - and Transformers was never the same again! Produced by Hasbro’s Kenner division, the Beast Wars toyline was a radical shift for Transformers, a reinvention of the brand following the unspectacular performance of the Generation 2 line that achieved massive success and saved Transformers from cancellation. The Emmy-award winning CGI animated series pioneered the character-driven, small-cast format that the best future Transformers cartoons would follow, and introduced concepts and terminology that would become intrinsic parts of the Transformers universe - chief among them, the spark itself. It created a new generation of Transformers fans, it brought many lapsed fans back to the brand, and today, it’s still widely considered one of, if not the best Transformers cartoon ever made. ‘Bots or beasts - they’re still the baddest! You guys already know G1-Beast Wars and even Robots in Disguise (2001) were not what drew me to the franchise initially but it was Beast Wars that drew me in to seek out what other incarnations were out there. A friend of mine who is also an avid Transformers fan told me of the series back when I was in high school and when I was on another Proboards forum, leading me to rent the series from Netflix and I was hooked.
So definitely a happy birthday to this great series!

I was at college when it came to the UK and only caught some of it, but didn't really like the whole turning into animals thing. It was only in my late 20's when I got back into TF's and collecting again (RID era - 2002ish.) that I watched it with a more open mind and fell in love with it. Any favorite characters TC? For me it's Rhinox on the Maximals side (Especially due to his meaty Gatling guns) and Waspinator on the Predacon side, but then who didn't love him?!

When the series actually came out I was only 2 at the time and think I saw some of the reruns on Fox Kids when I was a tad older since that was my go-to channel as a kid. But I didn't really see it up until when I was a freshmen in high school.
As for favorites, that is a bit of a tough one. Two of my top ones have to be Cheetor and Silverbolt, mainly because I liked Cheetor's character development over the course of the series and Beast Machines on top of the fact I just love big cats and Silverbolt...well I'm probably being biased. I loved that old medieval, chivalry aspect of the character since it still had that "knight in shining" armor cliche yet beneath the fur and feathers he was capable of a darker bot. And once again, I also love wolves and eagles. Two of my others would have to be Airazor, mainly because of her sassy but wise attitude and Dinobot because as a character he seemed the most complex.
Predacons...eh, this one is a bit more difficult. I agree Waspinator is definitely a favorite of mine because he was a comedic contrast to the seriousness. Blackarachnia I initially disliked since she seemed your stereotypical henchwoman who had times of rebelling but as the series progressed she grew on me and I grew to like the femme fatale she became, only thing I hated was the spider form, I just hate spiders. And gonna have to say, strange as this is, Rampage I kinda liked since he didn't follow Megatron blindly and generally showed a far more in-depth personality compared to most of the predacons. He was dark, twisted, and psychopathic but overall seemed to have more to his character.
