Inspired by a video I just watched.
It began in the 2007 movie and subsequent series followed suit with our gentle little bot only talking in flashbacks of briefly once a series getting his voice back at the end. The only exception I know being Animated and the modern (2015?) RID series. In Transformers Prime he was reduced to squeaks and beeps and admittedly at first it did annoy me back then, but as I grew to love the series completely, it kind of became endearing to me personally anyway.
Is it time to put this one idea to bed however?
I personally think so , sure it was maybe something different for the first live action movie, but then it kept getting done in most of the series and again only talking in the Bumblebee movie in the Cybertron flashback. It's become a tired trend that needs to be knocked on the head now and not used as a "Personality trait" as it's become.

Personally, I thought it was unique at first. Gave Bee a little more character since I have to admit G1 I wasn’t overly excited about him, he was fun but just was a typical kid character.
Now, it’s just become a “beating the dead horse” schnick that needs to go. And to say the least I was so relieved when Cyberverse decided to make Bee talk again when Season 2 rolled around. This version certainly was more active in using the radio, tv references, and songs, I’ll give them that they got creative in the first season. But after a while, it has gotten a bit annoying and isn’t nearly as cute.
I just think Prime executed it better though. But I do think maybe they could mix it up a tad? Maybe give Bee a constant fight of having to struggle with a scarred vocalizer; most times it might work, other times he might struggle to communicate, and other times he’s forced to use sign language, body language, clicks, and the radio to communicate at all. Give him at least a little more range of trying.

He should never have lost his voice.
He's a robot. His voice box is a speaker.

I agree TC at first it was unique but it has become very trite now. I'm sure about mixing it up though, I think it's done now. That typical kid character however is what fans loved about the character, he was like the little brother showing he could cut as much as the bigger bots and not limited just because he was small.
