XD I thought it was extremely corny honestly. And the voice acting made it boring for some reason, which is odd when other shows similar to it I watched no problem, like the re-runs they showed for Jonny Quest on Boomerang.

The old show is corny but it has gems. The art was great! The animation a little repetative. Skeletor is iconic! The show is dated but thats ok. He-Man as a toy and its cartoon are legendary! I'm interested in the new show. Just hope Prince Adams' cat or that mini-wizard aren't as corny as they were on the old show.

This also gave me 2002 re-boot vibes, not sure if anyone caught that back then, but it kept it faithful with also good animation and plenty of lore like how Skeletor became Skeletor. That was a great series cut short in it's prime in the second series with the axe. It replace cory with lore and made for a really nice series much like a later Thundercat series would do. (Though I wasn't keep on the character design as it was a bit too "cat people" on the side of japanese manga/dragon ball).

Drops today on UK Netflix.
So as well as Mark Hamill as Skeletor, the rest of the cast I have found out is also quite impressive!! Sarah Michelle Geller (Buffy) as Teela, Liam Cunningham (Davos, Game of Thrones) as Man at Arms and get this - Lena Heady (Cersi Lannister herself from Game Of Thrones) as Evil-Lynn (Which is perfect casting IMO) and Alan Oppenheimer (Original skeletor) as Merman!! As oddly, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena.
The 2nd trailer dropped giving impressions of a very Teela strongly led, leading to some very WOKE comments.

Um.... A newer, newer He-Man, this one aimed at younger kids rather than the ones that grew up with it drop just a month after the other one... Okay, Netflix you feeling okay?... So I watched the first episode ages ago, wasn't sure what to make of it as it is a complete reboot/new take on it with heavy emphasis on the sci-fi/fantasy & magic aspect. Finally got back and watched more yesterday and almost at the end of series one - and I'm kind of down for this series. We still have the traditional characters but some are a very different take on them. I kinda like that it's done something completetly different. I mean we've got the voice of Animated Optimus as a character AND David Kaye - Beast Wars and Unicron Trilogy Megatron as a very cool Cringer voice. IF I had to nit-pick I would say I like the design of He-man more than Adam (The latter just reminds me of a Final Fantasy Cloud and Sora from the Kingdom hearts game). There's also these cool art "Stills" just before the end titles with really nice comic like art. |
