After posting my small little Transformers VHS collection on social media, I re-watched this episode again as it was always one of my favourites. Bought second hand in the 1990's, it was watched so much the tape broke in the middle! Had to do the old fashioned "sellotape repair job". So that bit just before Megatron blows the planes up and sends the dinobots to pieces always goes a bit wonky. ((Starting when Megs goes through the window). Thankfully on Hasbro Pulse's official YT channel they have all the episodes.
With both Autobots and Decepticons having problems functioning it's deemed they are running out of something called "Cybertronium", but you can only get it on Cybertron. Thankfully Shockwave is shipping it over the space-bridge to Megatron. When the dinobots, the only ones not effected being built on Earth , are sent to retrieve some however, they inadvertendly go all the way to Cybertron, then refuse to return and take orders from "Bossy Autobots"; so it's up to Spike and Carly to go there and do it themselves.
Lots of fun here from the early fights at the airport and the plant, to them finding out their functioning problems. "Too bad! Megatron has blown his vocal components, I guess that makes me the NEW leader!" - it never really took much to happen for Starscream to always make such proclamations.
What are your thoughts/memories on this episode?
Sensibility was never one of G1's strong points like Carley knowing what button to push on every computer on Cybertron or Soundwave being in tape deck mode inside Ironhide without him or Blaster noticing! (Yes for a second I reasoned maybe Ironhide was in alt mode and Soundwave snuck on there, but Blaster was already inside in alt mode and never noticed??!)
