Renegades - Faction that are neither Autobot or Decepticon but can contain both, though very rarely Decepticons. Mostly former Autobots, they rebelled against their faction when their leader Optimus Prime (Unknown to everyone was not the real Optimmus but a clone built by Megatron), was giving uncharacteristic orders even if it meant harm to his comrades. This led to much speculation, spearheaded by Latryx7 that there was a leak in Autobot Intel.
Latryx shared his concerns with fellow friend and comrade Hoist, who had become close friends with the Dinobot Tamer, L7, following their working together on the Autobot Moon-base repairing the daily injured and wounded from the battle-lines. Hoist refused to believe it at first until he heard of Optimus giving orders that he knew would get them killed, thus suspecting also that something was deeply wrong.
It wasn't till on a mission led by L7 on Optimus orders it came apparent, when once more the Decepticons were already waiting in ambush. During this HeavyAsault, the ex-Vehicon, betrayed by Megatron, appeared and helped the Autobots.. Later HeavyAssault would turn up at Autobot HQ confirming L7's suspicions of a leak in intel amongst the Autobots, and bringing news of his departure from the Decepticons following Megatron's double crossing and subsequent offer to Join the Autobots - but not under Optimus Prime's command because of the suggested intel leak.
Over time more Autobots saw the change in Optimus though most refused to believe it and remained loyal, during this time these "Renegade" Autobots to the fight to the Decepticons in their own hands, delivering justice and action not bound by Autobot rules and Protocols. Believing there to be a major malfunction with Optimus they refused his orders and went independent whilst still under the Autobots, but this caused major upset amongst all Autobots.
Many council meetings took place with Autobot elders trying to decide what to do with the "Renegades", whilst they continued their attacks. Eventually to add to their list of crimes of mutiny, treason, disloyalty to the Autobots to the highest degree (From the Autobots perspective), they were effectively framed for more crimes within the Autobot circles, a scapegoat to pin things on. Whilst only the council were privvy to this information, and not being public knowledge, it was therefore an easy way for a bounty to be put on their heads - to be brought back under control to pay for their crimes, if not then stopped - dead or alive.
Following this they had effectively become outlaws to the Autobots, stripped of their ranks, titles and of their factions, to be tried as criminals against the Autobot empire. To this day they fight on as an independent soldiers, forming an independent faction - The Renegades, keeping both sides on their toes, both heroes and anti-heroes on Cybertron
ThunderWing - Former Decepticon leader. Thunderwing is a two-faced, lying, back-stabbing scoundrel, in other words: An ultimate Decepticon. He was also one of the most skilled Decepticons in combat and espionage. Thus he was chosen to be one of the first to utilize a new Pretender technology. This technology was far superior to early models, allowing for greater strength and control and the ability to actually merge with the shell to form a powerful shuttle mode.
Thunderwing had been a Aerial Espionage agent on Cybertron before the Earth year 2005. He had followed the leadership of Shockwave for that time.
When Unicron appeared in Cybertron's orbit, he and the rest of the decepticon army had joined forces with the autobots to destroy the threat. By this time Optimus Prime and Megatron were dead and the Autobot Matrix of leadership had been pa$$ed on to Ultra Magnus (Alternate time line of the Movie presented in 'Legacy 2006' RPG). Even with there combined forces, the autobots and decepticons could not stop Unicron form destroying Cybertron. Even the Matrix was lost, but not before sending Unicron in to stasis lock where he became a dead planet.
A year later, Thunderwing and the rest of the decepticons relocated on to Unicron under the leadership of Starscream. The decepticons had the Matrix and Starscream wanted to use it to power up Unicron and control him.
Thunderwing was not yet a Pretender.
Starscream then learned of a autobot attack force lead by Fortress Maximus and sent Thunderwing to stop them. He failed and returned back to base where Starscream then greanted him and others the Pretender exoskeleton Pretender shell.
Soon, Thunderwing started to crave the power of leadership and the Matrix. But he didn't understand why he felt a need to hold the Matrix for himself until the Autobots broke in to Unicron and tried to take it back. When Thunderwing grabbed the Matrix he felt its power. The Matrix had been touched by Unicron during the battle in 2005 and allowed Thunderwing to manipulate its power for himself.
Thunderwing then began to use it to attack the Autobots, until a autobot name Aqualec used his power of Circuit-Su to redirect a Matrix blast aimed at the autobot fleet, and send it back to Thunderwing killing him. Thunderwing had been inside Unicron at the time. The Matrix blast had killed Thunderwing directly within Unicron's head. The energy from the Matrix also killed Unicron in the process leaving only his head to roam space.
Thunderwing spark essences was trapped within Unicron, along with a few other decepticons sparks. They remained there until the sparks were called upon by another Matrix in a different dimenssion. A group called the Order was responsible for this action when their leader Caliban, when inside Unicron's Floating Head, used the Decepticon Dark Matrix to call forth a new set of Unicron's heralds to pave the way for the Chaos Bringer to come back to life with no one to appose him.
This was all a prophacy known only to Caliban and the Order. However, what they didn't know was that Unicron had offen jumped to different dimensions to take whatever it was he needed. The Dark Matrix, being a piece of Unicron's life force, used Unicron's head as a focal point and reached out to gather the sparks that died within him to created new heralds.
Thunderwing was reborn.
He then took the Decepticon Matrix form Caliban and used it to destroy the Renegades, Autobots and the Destructicons on Cybertron. Soon, he was found the Autobot matrix and took over Cybertron with his new Mayhem Attack Squad.
Thunderwing looked for a way to use both Matrix's without them taking control of him as before, to build a super army of Transformers and to locate the very heart of Cybertron, Vector Sigma, to take total control of the planet and turn it into a war world.Thunderwing's immense lust for power however, formed the weakness that led to his downfall.
