Grunt was in the medical room where Metalingus laid still. He placed the portable energy pod next to his fallen comrade, making sure it was ready for use and close by if it was needed. 'Hang tight Metalingus, we'll pull you out of this.'
Leaving the medical dock, Grunt made his wall to the bridge. He looked out the window and saw Dinoboss and Noble Convoy outside. It was now that he felt the slight pain of regret not being able to head out with his crew. But he knew this was for the best and that Noble Convoy was the best their was.
He radioed Noble and Dinoboss. ***COM***'Metalingus is stable. Just remember to give me a heads up when your headed back. Don't want anyone of you guys tripping any one of my traps when you come back.'***COM***
Dinoboss: --"We will. I've boosted the communications signal as best I can, but we will still go dark at a certain distance. It's the best I could work out given the series of events leading here. I've got an amplified sender/receiver on me to try and get the best distance out of communications. Now we hope that nothing goes awry."--
With Torrent Joining them the group set across the desolate land, only the occasional small river, more like cracks amongst the vast landscape, broke the flat unchanging land as they headed towards the forest, as well as the occasional banter between comrades.

Grunt watched as his comrades took to the forest before they all disappeared. He then turned about and looked at the bridge. 'Time to get working and crew cy-gars!'
Grunt then reached into his side compartment where he keeps his cy-gat stash and realized that he was all out of cy-gars.
Outside, Grunt left the ship and looked around. He set the security system to watch for activity all around the massive vessel. His first plan was to select the most obvious spot an attack would come from. After locating a sector of trees all huddled together, Gurnt went to work on bending back the thickiest branches and setting trip wires on them to hold them back form springing forward. Later, he would apply small touch sensitive explosives to each.

After placing the branches in position and setting the trip wires, Grunt returned to the ship to collect the explosives.
In the amoury, he looked at what explosives they had. Low powered grenades was all they had. He took only the ones that could be set remotely, so that they would remain unarmed until activated by a radio signal.
Before heading back outside, Grunt decided to check in on Metalingus for a status update.
Metalingus remained stationary and stoic in his pod, a silent remember of their previous encounter and the dangers ahead. The portable energy device was holding well for now, as their silent warrior lay motionless. His wounds were severe and without a medi it was unsure if they could ever bring him back alive let alone get off this planet. What thoughts was Metalingus having, dreams?..

Satisfied with his visit, Grunt headed outside.
Once outside of the ship, Grunt began attaching the grenades to his make shift traps. Always on alert, he kept an eye on the forest, looking for any details that would alert him to the enemy or any other threats.

Done with the grenades, Grunt decided to work on his other idea.
Looking for the biggest trees he could find, Grunt took a few of them down. The ones he chose were as straight and thick as he could find. He removed all the branches off them so that they would be able to roll down at steep areas such as the small hills around the ship.
Once he had the trees needed, he went back to the ship to gather all the metal that had fallen off the ship when it crashed. His intention was to shove the metal into the wood of the trees and have the sharp ends sticking out of the tree, to create a spiked mace like booby traps with the metal sticking out of the trees, that would roll down on the enemy once released.

Grunt was glad to finally hear from his commander. It meant that the crew was so far ok.
+++COM+++"Commander. Defensives are almost there. Anyone who sneaks up on the ship will be in for a nasty surprise. Sending coordinates so that you and the rest of the team know where they are, so ya don't trip them up. Metalingus has remained stable."+++COM+++
