I was just thinking, for me the villains make or break a show. And over the time, Transformers has had some good and....ahem....'bad' villains.
For me Megatron was probably the best, esp. in the movie. If the cartoon series had been, say, an 18 rated show there would have been much more chance to show how evil Megatron really was. Galvatron was a psychopath, very scary but not a particularly good evil guy.
What do you lot think? are villains that important, or are the good guys what make the show? Who were the best bad guys?

Starscream was bad ,as well as beating on Autobots he never missed a chance to try to take over command of the Decepticons from Megatron and he would happily despose of any in his way and of course in the movie he took command after Leaving Megatron adrift in space, mind you he did not lead for long

I think all the bad guys in the series have been pretty good, Armada = reasonable-ish. Butn it's a shame in something like the RID toon, Megs had 3 usless AND spinless predacons working for him and even poor Skybyte got turned into nothing more than a comedy character (which is a shame as he was very cool to begin with). It only picked up on the con side because of ruination.

I also think that the badest has to be Unicron as he wants to destroy everything and everyone

[glow=blue,2,000]Starscream, Shockwave. Megatron were all great.
Screamer the back stabbing spazz, Shockwave cold and emotionless, and Megatron the arrogant, merciless leader. [/glow]

Same here, we need a new link Obsidian.
As for villains...
Megatron, (crazy) Galvatron, Screamer, Shockers, its all good. Hell even Soundwave had his moments.

Never mind the link, I'll convey the point myself!
GENERATION 1 MEGATRON IS NOT THE GREAT LEADER YOU ALL MAKE HIM OUT TO BE!!!
Okay, now, to explain it: The original Megatron should have been the, as the link referred him to, essential archetype for his forces: the most powerful, brightest and fiercest of them all. Instead, he's just a really angry bot who can never see the forst for the trees. A few things explain it:
The fact tht he sent the Aerialbots back in time, instead of going there himself and alter history to his wishes.
The fact that he built a large, blue griffin fortress.
His behaviour when Perceptor told him to destroy a powerful weapon when he was inflicted with cosmic rust.
The fact that he didn't end the war in Episode 1 when he had the chance!
If this is not enough, I'm sure you can dig up more stupidity. To top everything off, his final plan was to sneak into Autobot City, which was back on Cybertron, and defeat the Autobots. What a clever plan! [/sarcasm] At this point, it becomes bleedingly obvious that ol' Megs ain't exactly the brightest of rulers. The only thing he seemed to be good at was beating Starscream to a mechanical pulp, which was actually all he did right.
I rest my case. Conclusion: Shockwave and Screamer rule, G1 Megatron is a dumbass.

[glow=blue,2,000]Sid.... were talking about villians, not leaders but the the actual character and why there so cool as the bad guy.
Besides, rating any TF character on the show isn't always a good idea. The most the show did was give them a cool voice and personality... of lack of in Soundwave's case....
And, if you want to say G1 Megs is no good because he did alot of stupid things and never lead the Decepticons to a final victory over the Autobots, then both can be said about all leaders on both sides.
Anyways... I like G1 Megs based on his arrogrance and maddness. I perfer him over Galvy since ol purple crown is over rated and over used IMO.
Rumble is a great street punk, and Thunderwing is great aswell. He reminds me of Megs.
And Scorponok is interesting... he can either way.[/glow]

I kinda agree with Obsidian about Megatron not accomplishing a whole lot. But there was a couple things he did do that no other Decepticon ever did. He killed off a few Autobots. He even killed Optimus Prime. Thats something no Decepticon ever did

I kinda agree with Obsidian about Megatron not accomplishing a whole lot. [glow=blue,2,000]Thats true, I don't disagree but then what decepticon leader obtained victory? Unless your talking about the comic, then thats a completely different ball game. Megs and Galvatron are right up there for offing auobots. Shockwave got things done only to fail later. Scorponok was just too bad ass to bow down to anyone, would have loved to see him a Megs G1 or G2 go at it. And Starscream.... what did he really get done? About the same as Megatron, an doomed to fail. In the DW comic he's pulling a few things off so far.[/glow]

Megatron was the best villain, he called humans FLESH CREATURES, how cool is that!! anyway his plans would of worked if it wasnt for those kids and that dog named......wait , that was another show. His plans were doomed from the beginning that's what made him the best villain. The ignorance of all the flaws in his plans were hilarous. in the first season I loved the way Starscream called him "leader". That was also funny...well let me get of my soap box...XBOT out.
