Are there any Star Trek lovers out there? I know I am not the only one. I have loved Star Trek ever since my parents got me hooked on TOS (The Original Series) reruns in the 80s and the slew of movies starring the original cast after. My favorite series is indeed TOS followed by ENTEPRISE. TNG, DS(, and VOYAGER are good as well but the two I mentioned I really dig. I have also come to love the new movie franchise, and loved the first two. I eagerly await the third STAR TREK BEYOND. Moving on I figured why not post a thread where we can share all things Star Trek. To kick it of check out the links below from STARTREK.COM freaking awesome! I've watched episodes from each series (except for Enterprise). I think the series I watched the most was Voyager, but it could also have been DS9. Wasn't too big a fan of DS9, at least not until the Dominion War kicked into gear.
As for films, I absolutely love the TNG films. First Contact is my favourite of all of them. I do like the new films and I'm looking forward to the next one. I like how because it's an alternate timeline, they can have things happen that fans will know about, but have then happen in a different way (Into Darkness being a good example of that).

For me, I grew up with the original cast's film's in the 80's which is how I got to know them, I was born too late for the original series. In my early 20's they used to show the original series on a Sunday morning, so as I loved the characters because of the films I would watch repeats of the original series on those Sunday mornings. A very close friend introduced me to TNg and the rest was history, I love DS9 and Voyager is okay (Like TNG and DS( it took a few seasons to get good and past the cheesey/bad episodes). I've never watched Enterprise. This was also recently posed at ProBoards support for the TNG fans!:

I remember watching TOS when I was really young. It was at the time when Star Wars came out, I was 3 then. So I was hooked on lots of sic-fi shows. I remember a couple of times that I saw the movies when they first came out. But I was one of those kids who though Star Wars was way better.
It wasn't until I got older that I really appreciated Star Trek. The dialogue and banter between the characters is awesome. And the themes are great too.
When TNG came out I watched some episodes but was never a huge fan. Just last though, when my daughter was born, I began to watch TNG again. This was due to the fact that when I was given my daughter to look after, I had to throw something on Netflix quick before she got cranky. And TNG has 7 seasons with about 20 or so episodes in each, so I just hit play and let her rip! I have to say I really began to like TNG a lot better now. Especially Patrick Stewart. I think he's the best thing to happen to Star Trek to be honest.
I have watched DS9 and STV and maybe 2 STE but I can't say I was ever hooked on them. As for the movies, I like The Wrath of Kahn, The Search for Spock, The Voyage Home, The Undiscovered Continent, Generations is ok, First Contact is awesome. As for the first two movies I really loved them and felt Star Trek needed a good kick start for its movies. But my opinion on them has changed lately. While I think they are good movies, I have become a little disappointed in some aspects of them.

One of my life goals is to have a beard like Riker's. Another is to age as well as Patrick Stewart. Seriously, the man doesn't look any older than when TNG started!

I share how BB feels's about DS9 regarding the Dominion, like TNG if suffered from "Early season syndrome" - some good episodes, alot of "okay episodes", some just... really bad cheesy episodes.. Bringing in the Dominion was the best thing they did. It was always going to be different set on a space station and not "Seeking out new live and new civilizations...", but it was more about who came to the station rather than going out exploring. For me half-way through season 3 is when it picked up looking at Odo's origins. The Dominion were the new "Borg" in such a MAJOR threat we'd never heard about before, they were new they were exiting and menacing and again a real threat to the federation, The prospect of the station being taken over, going to war with the Klingons again and everything to do with the Dominion even losing the station at one point and having to abandon was a major push for the show.
Voyager also suffered "Early season syndrome" - dodgy early holodeck episodes, there's a truck floating in space! and there's a great threat - everyone run to the holodeck! But again picked up after 3 - 4 seasons. The whole early Maquis thing never worked for me and I liked they humanized a borg (7 of 9) into the crew, especially as the Borg became less and less of a threat the more Star Trek dealt with them. I don't think the borg were overdone per say, but the more they came against them the more easier they could deal with them it became - at least to me. It's the Borg! Okay, modulate the phaser array, tea anyone? The last great threat being First Contact.
I loved the films up to and including First Contact, they got worse for me after that. The first re-boot okay but for me was mediocre, The only thing I liked about it was Karl Urban playing Bones - he was a perfect choice. After that it's seems like "let's see how many of the original films ideas we can rip off" - just my opinion of course. We need a fresh new series badly.
Fvourite characters:
TOS Dr McCoy, Bones. "Leonard H!"
TNG Worf
DS9 Quark (Special mentions: Kira always loved her, Rom, Nog)
VOY The Doctor
Apart from Bashir (DS9) there's a re-occuring thing about Doctors for me I guess! I mean there was Dr Crusher as well - (Hubba hubba.)

Karl Urban plays grumpy characters brilliantly. The EMH is my favourite character from Voyager too. Love how as the series progresses he becomes more, for lack of a better word, sassy.

I like and respect everything you guys have said here, I'm glad I posted this thread. It is always awesome for me to find out what other members are into on a forum, other than what the forum fandom is. I see a lot of similar tastes, that is very refreshing.

So I decided to watch the first 2 episodes of Voyager. Not bad. I forgot about that alien they pick up along the way and remembered how much I disliked him.

That's alright, I disliked Kes all the way through! Do you mean Neelix?

Kes annoyed me, but I did like Neelix. Sort of reminded me of Guinan.

I have finally caught up on the Next Generation. I watched it in pieces when it first came out. Then after I had kids I would put it on since it's ok for kids and I needed to see what episodes I missed. I really miss it now. Can't watch DS9 yet. I'm not in the mood for it just now but the cast is better then I remember.

I watched all of Next Gen last year, I love it too, there is nothing even in Star Trek which has the same Utopian feel. I wish they had made more series at the time for me to watch now haha.
DS9 is still good though, but last time I watched it I cherry picked through the first few seasons as I found a lot of the Bajoran stuff not to my personal taste. From the end of Season 3 onwards it is mostly great!

And speaking of Next Gen, I like the Generations movie now. Before I felt cheated as I wanted to see the entire old crew meet the new crew. But the way the movie went made sense. I think the old crew would of competed too hard against the new crew.
