[glow=blue,2,300]There's nothing when we die. There's no such thing as a soul, only electrical impulses in our brain and the accumulated knowledge of our experiences. When those impulses cease, we die and oblivion beckons.[/glow]

Like Perceptor I'm not a beliver in a soul in the religious sence. I think we are what you see plus some bioelectrisity, chemicals and so on. When you pop it thats it... dosn't make it a bad thing. Quite the oposit infact. If souls existed then religions would have to be right and there for some of them are the wrong paths to follow and will be damned for all eternity for that simple choice.
I belive in science. Although religion is not nessisarily wrong in my opinion... it can just be warped and used to do wrong things. The fundimental core of being a good person is what people need and with science there really isn't a reason for being a good person as you will have no great punishment at the end of it all. So some people need some sence of fear to stop them becoming some sort of threat to others...
But I do admit there are many things science cant explain in this curent time and I have seen some wacky things. But they dont shake my beleif.
A few years back I used to see these things... they apeared human shaped but seemed to be comprised of three dimentional shadow... its hard to explain.
They used to apear when I was on my own in a darkened enviroment, like my apartment at the time. I would turn around and one would be standing infront of me. Then a split second later it would disipate into nothing. They never apeared any longer than that.
Personaly I think they were linked to my depresion at the time and the hormones and chemicals in my brain going haywire. making my mind trip out with some sort of paranoia. After all people who suffer from paranoid delusions see things but that dosn't make them real.
Anyway I've been on a right rant fest so I must shut up now and see who I've managed to offend with my crazyness

[glow=blue,2,300]So something you can't explain means that it's supernatural does it? How about quantum singularities, Kepler's star, the presence of Dark Matter and Dark energy? Just because we cannot provide a rational explanation for things doesn't mean there isn't one.
Like Zectole I've seen things when I've been depressed, veering towards manic depression at times. The rational argument is that they are hallucinations. Brought about by extreme hormonal and neurochemical imbalance in the brain.
Don't forget Clarke's Law either - Sufficiently advanced science is indistinuishable from magic.[/glow]

if I may......
there is an explanation for everything that people experience... problem is that not everyone can explain with words that we all understand, what that explanation is...
... yes... we are "desendants" of the apes ... and we all will eventually "evolve" to something higher than what we are.... but what makes us different from the animals, is not our oposing thumbs... it is an essence that is divine that we possess.... that is what makes us...
Religion is a state... an order to what we can't explain with science or rationalisms... it is a story to make the misunderstood, understood, and what no one understands, gets pushed aside for the next generation to try to explain...
Most religions, however, are organized by men... not only as in the global sense... as in the male of our species...... now I promise not to get on a high horse and preach the feminine, I am not a feminist by any stretch... however, religions, originally, are of the feminine deity... each and every one of us carry both... male and female... it is in how we understand what we have, that helps us understand the divine mysteries better
now Steel and Percy... I understand where they are both coming from... I'm not a scholar... by any stretch, and I don't understand all the technical stuff that the can both put forth... but through my experiences, I whole heartedly know where they are coming from... I personally struggle with my own demons, ie, depression... I also have basked in the etherial glow of such happiness and joy and hope that is rarely experienced by others
Our soul and our essence comes from our everyday experiences... it is what we do with them and how we react to others and what others do to and for and with us that makes us what we are... and takes us to our next evolution ... I do not believe that there is nothing for us after we die... call if evolution if you need to ... but there is something there ;D...

I don't believe that we evolved from apes or from some goo like they teach us in some science class. Nor do I believe in the big bang theory. But thats not the topic here. All I asked is has anybody seen a ghost or heard some ghostly noise that they can't explain.

my appologies....
yes... there are may a time where I've seen things and heard things that I can't always explain away with "it was just the wind", or "that was the scariest shadow I've ever seen"....
again, my appologies for traipsing off topic .... my bad

BACK to ghost..sometimes I think I hear noises..but most likely I think its the Urban Legends in my brain playing tricks on me...In my current apartment I have an empty room and funny thing about Latin folks is that theirs always a haunted room! lol
