A bitter cold rose over Cybertron. The mornings are always icy in the area surrounding the Sonic Canyons. Black ice covers them for cycles at a time, and they become impossible to navigate. It is said in the foothills, it can get so cold that you could pour motor oil on the ground, and it would get a few feet before it froze completely. Higher up it is even colder. Nonetheless, this is where a handful of Autobots had pitched camp barely a quarter solar cycle ago. Footsore and weary, they are travelling to the industrial hubbub of activity that is Manufacturing Works AA-233. Long since abandoned by the Decepticons and their Autobot slaves, it has discreetly become an Autobot meeting centre. No-one stays for long: an ordinary circumstance is to arrive, leave a message on the city network, and leave. So it goes. But, less than ten solar cycles ago, a long-range signal was broadcast. ‘Every aggressive unit prepare to mass at AA-233, without delay. A guide will meet you on the outskirts.’ No-one knows who broadcast the signal, but Smokescreen, Perceptor, Wormhole, Nexus and Torque are not bots who are known to be risk averse... (So just to recap, you are in the freezing foothills of the Sonic Canyons, following a lead broadcast from a rundown Decepticon city, take these first few days to interact with your comrades and get a feel for your characters, don’t worry there’s no deadline! )

Scanning the area in his microscope mode, Autobot science officer Perceptor surveyed the landscape for any activity, be it Decepticon or any other. During his post he would often take into account any interesting sights he could but only for a short time, he knew that he couldn't possibly take too much time out of his watch for scientific purposes, not matter how curious he became, not with his fellow Autobots depending on him to keep the perimeter safe.
But Perceptor also knew that not only was his duty as an Autobot to keep his comrades safe from physical harm, but to also keep their spirits up and their minds alert. To the best of his abilities, Perceptor tried to get the Autobots he was grouped with interested in what he found fascinating. [glow=red,2,]'If anyone is interested, and you should be, now is the time to witness a local Cybertronian phenomenon. For within the Sonic Canyons, you can see just how treacherous the winds can in fact be. Upon observing a small valley just south of here, I have monitored the wind patterns and discovered that a large mass of winds that travel through the canyons at a alarming speed with devastating results. Once every 5 breems, a concentrated build up of wind, more to the point a tornado, blasts its self through the canyons. This is the under lying force that has shaped one of Cybertron's landmarks into what it is today.'[/glow]

Nexus raised his head from his squatting position, under an icy overhang. He scowled. "Your words are as meaningless to me as your pathetic choice of pastimes, Perceptor. A wind is a wind. Nothing more. There is nothing impressive about a wind, and your fascination with it is reflective of your own incompetence as an Autobot and soldier." He rolled his eyes, and went back to calibrating his blaster for the umpteenth time.

[glow=red,2,]'So long as your opinion of me isn't that of a incompetent scientist, then I believe I have nothing to be worry about. That is, of course, if any of your other statements about my abilities had any merit, if not then I doubt they could hold any ground even on a planet with an in-balance of crushing gravity.'[/glow] Perceptor decided to get back to strictly scanning the area. He thought to himself that he allowed himself to much time to get distracted, even if for a moment. And he was going to allow Nexus to get the best of him or his observing of the Sonic Canyons.

Nexus carefully ignored this remark, deciding to not challenge Perceptor on a statement that he had little, if not no, understanding of. He felt such things were below him. He simply sniffed, rolled his eyes, and made a strong twist of a nob on his blaster, smiling as it gave energizing crackle and two or three lights flickered into life...

Standing back from the two, Wormhole just decided to let them go on about the 'dicussion' about how meaningless Perceptors' words were. Infact, Wormhole quite enjoyed what Perceptor had to say, even if it meant not knowing of the words he used or the description of the wind. He took it as it came, and unfortunately, it seemed that Nexus didn't quite think about it the same way he did.
He quietly looked over the landscape, which seemed to be as harsh as Nexus, even harsher if the wind picked up any more then it already was. Looking to where Nexus was, he noticed his blaster and the lights flickering off of it. "See anything? I don't. So, I don't think you need that blaster right now. Besides, we're out in the snowy valley of doom waiting for a guide." He didn't want to say anything more to disrupt him, or cause any turmoil so he let it go after that.

Nexus laughed a laugh with no humor in it whatsoever. "You're as dense as the ice we await him on if you think that the enemy will not attack with stealth. What do you expect? That they knock politely and wait to be asked in? If you're unprepared, you're dead. If you're too stupid to realize this by even now, you're not worth my time." He primed his gun, clicked a final piece into place, then sat back, a smug smile on his face.

He looked to where he sat and looked him over. "I don't see why the enemy would waste efforts to try and come out all this way to nail down Autobots. If the enemy was smart, they'd follow us until we got to where we're headed, then attack. So, really, how dense am I now?" Wormhole smiled as the last word escaped him. He never really thought about taking on another Autobot verbally but something about this one was tugging on him to set him straight.

[glow=red,2,]'Well, though it perturbs me slightly to admit, Nexus may actually have a point. In not so much as being prepared for a surreptitious assault, however, Nexus does precess the uncanny adeptness to predict Decepticon activity. And our enemies are not known for sound battle tactics, as they have been consistent in savagery and random bombardments when engaged in warfare. Why, over half of their army is made up of psychotic wild cards! Curious, when is my watch over by the way?' [/glow] Perceptor realized that if he didn't transform soon, his joints would start to experience some damage.

Torque remained silent as he peered through the scope of his Sniper Rifle. He was looking back the way they had come. What he heard on his audio sensors took his interest. Listening to Wormhole, Nexus and Perceptor taking about Decpticon tactics made him join in. Still looking through the scope, Torque spoke.
"Right now would actually be the perfect time for someone to attack us. We, for the most part, are not expecting it. And they wouldn't wait for us to get where we are going, because they wouldn't know how many more of us there could be."
Torque stood and turned towards the group.
"And as for stealth...."
Torque activated his Ghost ability and phased through Wormhole, becoming solid when he was on the other side of the group.
"What's to say we're not being followed by anyone who can do that?"
Torque moved back to his original spot and set up his sniper rifle again.

He didn't like being wrong. Maybe he was, or maybe he wasn't but after seeing Torque do his little phasing trick, it made him second guess himself regardless of what Nexus would inevitably say. He took in what they said, processed it and then decided it would be best to not bring anything up about the Decepticons at this point. Judging by the way everyone gets involved, he figured everyone was slightly on their edges over their current situation.
He moved to Torque, and knelt as to bend his joints to let them move to slow down the process of freezing everything together. "You see anything then?" He figured he himself would be of no use until they got into a close quarters situation.

Torque continued looked through his scope when Wormhole spoke to him.
"Ice. Lots and lots of ice. The occasional avalanche off in the distance."
Torque shifted his weight slightly, turning his body and aiming his sniper rifle at a different part of the canyon. Peering through the scope, again he saw nothing but ice. He almost squeezed the trigger when he saw some ice fall in the distance, but checked the movement. He spoke to the rest of the group, keeping his voice low enough that it couldn't be picked up by an outside source.
"So....Anyone know what this guide we're waiting for looks like? I wouldn't wanna accidently blast it."

Nexus sniggered. "You would do well to follow my advice, Wormhole. I am, after all, easily the most superior transformer here. I have the audio receptors of a turbo fox and the refelxes of a master swordsman. No-one short of Torque could even hope to sneak up on me."
Less then half a second later, a shadowy figure dropped on him from above the overhang, shoved a grenade in his mouth and pulled him into a choakhold...

Hearing the scuffle, Perceptor whipped his microscope tube around and saw Nexus pulled under the icy overhang he was sitting under by someone he couldn't make out. [glow=red,2,]'Autobots we have an intruder!'[/glow]
He transformed as fast as he could, despite the ice forming on his joints, and armed himself. [glow=red,2,]'Who ever you might be, I strongly suggest you desist from your current course of action and release our fellow Autobot immediately. Refusal to do so will only result in dire consequences!' [/glow] With his blaster trained on the enemy, Perceptor's biggest concern now was if their were more intruders surrounding them and if he and the rest of the team could react swift enough to deal with them. They had all been in the cold for too long and being able to even perform the simplest of moves could be a problem.

Torque heard the scuffle and whipped around, drawing his Ion Disrupter. He took aim at the shadowy figure. While he didn't show it, he knew that if he fired, he'd probably paralyse Nexus instead. Torque kept his weapon pointed at the new arrival, but kept his optic and audio sensors alert incase of any more intruders. How on Cybertron had they not heard this thing approaching? Was it so cold that their sensors were malfunctioning? Or was this new arrival a fellow Ghost like Torque? Either way, it had just landed on Nexus and jammed a grenade in his mouth.
"You'd do well to let him go, otherwise things could get...Messy."
